MSO is an unstable retard. He doesn't actually want to destroy TG, he just makes the most retarded impulse decisions humanly possible. I don't know why there's this narrative floating around in this thread that MSO is somehow a victim, he's just an egotistical asshole getting his just deserts. He wasn't some bastion against or for trannies, he's just a moron who loves attention and making people angry.

For the record, MSO does not control everything. He does not own the website domain nor the github repository, arguably the two most important things for a community. Additionally, he does not control the backups of things like the website and databases.

This is definitely not why. The ss13 tranny jannies despise MSO, and the only drama that is ever deleted from r/ss13 is ss14 drama because... well yeah that should be obvious. It's probably because people are finding MSO's tumblr and seeing him REEEEE about le evil fruit forum, and wondering just what skeletons are in this universally hated figure's closet.

To give you the full story that I know of: He "gave up" ownership to the aforementioned Scriptis after an incredibly unpopular code change (often labelled "the wallening") which changed the look of the station's walls to something incredibly ugly to look at with many bugs, said update was so unpopular that it led to a DDoS and the server population tanking (much like Ireland after the great famine, the population still hasn't recovered from this one code change being merged). However he held onto the reins presumably to stop something like this from happening due to him alienating the "community" beforehand via his rants.

Later on, a player appealed their appearance ban, citing that they didn't like playing as a woman at random. (I'd post the appeal but the forums are down.) Some tranny jannies in their circlejerk chat then joked about the player "catching cooties" or something thereabouts, which led to MSO sperging out about misandry, which then led to that Latinx cunt going apeshit in response. Said tranny jannies were deadminned, with the latinx in particular causing such offence that MSO tried to erase all traces of her, which caused a cascade effect of other tranny jannies leaving and a possible player revolt, which is what finally led MSO to hand over the keys and what led to this present moment.

SS13 servers have so much drama that I feel hurt as most of it is lost to time due to irrelevancy. Small names but absolutely incredible things happening behind the veil. F-lists, metagroups, ass flags... If only there was a brave Kiwi at the right place and at the right time...

tl;dr for people out of the loop and because people aren't giving a real answer:

  • MSO had been hosting /tg/ for years, and had a reputation of being a chill dude that was very knowledgeable about hosting
  • MSO had become a rabid MRA sometime in the past few years
  • He would mainly stay in a politics containment channel in their Discord where he could sperg about his ideology without stepping on people's toes
  • MSO started banning people from Discord that he would get in particularly bad arguments with
  • These arguments started spilling into the forums when people would appeal their bans from MSO
  • /tg/ has a culture of having "Peanut" forum threads for off topic commentary about ban appeals
  • This caused a conversation about MSO and his political sperging having a negative impact on the community
  • MSO started arguing with people in the forums about his politics because it had become a topic of discussion
  • This emboldened him to take his arguments outside of his containment channel because he perceived the dismissive attitude towards his ideals as personal attack
  • MSO would frequently interject into an unrelated forum conversation to start lecturing about how some offhand remark was misandrist, when people pushed back he would get butthurt and lock the thread to get the last word
  • MSO had effectively lost all goodwill from the other staff because he would constantly kick up a new shitstorm over politics and cause drama from abusing his powers
  • October 2024 MSO officially "steps down", citing that hosting was making his mental health worse
  • Despite this he continues to act as host with the same privileges to ban people through the rest of 2024
  • January 2025, MSO still has not given up his position, despite publicly claiming to being in the process of doing so, and abuses his powers more than ever on the grounds of his personal political crusade
  • MSO completely oversteps his role as host by entirely removing two admins without going through the normal avenues in place for staff removal. Literally all their posts and accounts were erased from /tg/
  • This causes a mass exodus of longtime staff because they are so fed up with MSO and his bullshit and his refusal to hand over power so he can continue to abuse it
  • Finally, MSO was effectively strong-armed into handing over the Discord because the entire community was on fire.
  • People thought this meant the end of the dispute, and there would finally be a full transition of hosts
  • Apparently this was so traumatic for MSO, that he had to lock down all of /tg/ because he can no longer trust anyone to carry on his "legacy"

Someone let me know if I forgot anything super important, but this is the quickest summary I could whip up that got the gist of the events without going into super deep detail. I particularly glossed over the specifics of all the details of the arguments he had with people, I feel like all you need to know is it was over gender bullshit, and it usually devolves into the same things.
I have a feeling this thread is gonna blow up any minute so I wanted to get something out for people just coming in.

MSO should be based and leak all the private coder and janny chat logs, and shit like hidden player notes. Lets get a full idea of how bad things actually were. I would be actually willing to sift through it for interesting morsels of admins being shitheads abusing their powers as well.

All of Debug's discord messages have been wiped. It seems that I was just in time to archive it!
This is strange, since that means their account was deactivated RECENTLY, or something similar.

What the fuck could have just happened?

Edit: Just a reminder for those who are unfamiliar, this guy supposedly died in April.
