Guild Wars 2

I decided to come back and give gw2 another go this weekend since ff14 disappointed me with their latest expansion and patch content, and I must say, I had forgotten how fun this game can be. I will play for another week before I drop any money for the expansions I missed since I played last, but for now I am enjoying myself.

Yeah, FFXIV's Dawntrail is the biggest flop I've seen in a while; at least GW2 has some solid gameplay going for it right now. FFIXV's not doing too great.

I kindof want them to be moving to Guild Wars 3 at this point (Its been 12 years) but I have no faith the devs won't pozz the fuck out of the plot no matter how good the gameplay is.

My personal hope is that NCSoft is making Guild Wars 3 without Arenanet.

My bigger concern is that they'll fuck up gameplay and QC. There's basically nobody in the studio left from the senior cast that designed GW2 mechanics and general feel. I think their last work were mounts in PoF, the last change that didn't suck ass or wasn't just a minor change, and then there were mass layoffs and people leaving on their own. Since then there have been no major mechanics being implemented. Even the latest player "housing" is just guild halls system but shit.

GW3, if some retard from NCSoft allows ANet's soy and troonshine soaked paws touch it, won't have nearly the amount of thought put into mechanics, and I fully expect it to be woke as shit, because while AAA studios pretend to care for leftard shit because of Blackrock money, ANet genuinely believe in that neo-Marxist bull.

it would be veilguard: the mmo.

Picked up gw2 in the steam sales recently. I've been enjoying it the gate keeping skyscale shit really pissing me off, because i just want to go and do the stuff to get it but i have to finish content before i can even start the unlocks... By the time i get to that point i won't even need the fucking thing.

Although the Warclaw is now easy to get and shits all over the raptor and the Springer so far i can jump higher and further short of flying its the best newbie mount. And it takes 2 minutes to get once you hit level 30.

Used to play GW1 a lot as a kid but barely achieved shit once I could migrate the rewards to GW2, so been tempted to restart both 1 and 2, link them together and give them a real shot.. but you can't link to Steam gw2 accounts. Welp.

Anyway: I love the completionist angle to GW2 "questing" and I've always liked how creative the specializations are. Ive just never done any dungeons or raids so it always felt too simple for me.

Gonna give it a real go now, but I fear I'll end up wanting to reroll a few hours in. Alas, nothing else to play and I'm beyond tired of WoW. Played since pre-AQ and never properly done content or belonged to a guild anyway.

Damn shame you can't link to a Steam gw2 account. Enough to turn me off finally expetiencing gw1.

It really makes meta content hard to keep up with. I got my skyscale and never looked back.

The only one i use extensively outside of skyscale is my skimmer because i paid for the dugong skin, it's adorable i love it he's a fat little derp and now i can zoom underwater.

Oh and my warclaw for free health regen during meta boss events.

Having so many mounts that aren't instantly identifiable for their purpose is weird to me. A pvp mount separate from another mount? Sure. A teleport-healing ground mount? Uhh. Two flyers? Almost seems like a skin-selling scheme.

I'd agree whole heartedly coming from ESO where you have horse as base mount that does everything and skins for horse into other animals or mechs if you will. It's so weird seeing them evolving the mounts from POF and to HOT and onwards with Obscura. I only buy one skin each for the mounts i use mostly plushie and the derpy dugong for the skimmer. But then you have the boat for fishing and the two person turtle mount.

I'd 100% be up for spending $20 every other month for a new base mount skin that I'll use exclusively and never again, but even the store is such a mess. I too would get the plushies but then you see shit like this:

If I knew one flying mount was perma-superior, fine. But why even have two? Why not add mastery traits or whatever? Don't you only have one mount slot on X? I regret reinstalling WoW every time I play it, whereas I still feel interested in getting through GW1/2, but it's also so fucking convoluted and messy. Sure it feels nice to apply 20 conditions with 3 buttons but like, you'll never grasp what any of them really do and how much. Is that just the default? You pick a build and hope it's doing its thing.

Then there's the unlimited uses tools, surely those are a good idea to get first? But are they account wide, or only if in an account-wide slot? And those costs gems too. I wouldn't be opposed to inventory expanding being locked behind paygating if it was fucking account-wide..

I love necro but the hero specs are kinda shit, so tempted to go ranger instead. At least it has a traditional pet-based fantasy.. not sure about the specializations. Either way: I wanna play it, so I will. A wild concept in today's gaming climate.

If you've played WoW, then GW2 pets are NOTHING like WoW pets. In GW2 they're like situational traits you pick, and nothing more. They can barely tank (you share the same healing skill cooldown, and there's basically no threat management to speak of), they can't guard a place (unless you sacrifice an ability slot, and even that just temporarily), you can't stow them away permanently, you can't customize them in any way (so no hunting for rare pets), they have no skill trees on their own, and there's basically no pet class fantasy to speak of, because there are no class "quests" that put emphasis on you using your pet for anything. The one and only truly impactful skill they provide is that they can revive you, and after EoD it's less impactful since everyone has bots that do it much faster, even if on a cooldown. It's honestly pathetic how badly they're handled, immersion wise.
Engineer's jade mech is much better, since it's an important part of the spec, trait choices feel impactful, and it performs better as a tank, dps or utility pet than ranger pets.

ArenaNet decided to celebrate fag pride month by launching content update, where the map meta is quite literally giving the titan (which is the map itself) AIDS. Players are supposed to destroy macrophages, weaken organs, cause multiple organ failure, and one of achievements is even called "Immunocompromised". Truly stunning and brave.

And yet, trannies and fags try to insist that they're aren't causing/spreading AIDs...

Seriously, why do they even bother trying to hide it at this point?

Wait, how is that stunning and brave? Is the game saying that the players are the HIV now? I'm confused.

I personally stopped playing after the fake Korea expansion was launched, mostly out of boredom. Looks like I'm not missing much if they are still making zergs and repetitive activity grinds "new features". How many currencies do we have now? Have the number broken 50 yet?

What's the current state of the story, if anyone knows? I bailed after EoD's rather crap ending; from what I heard, the Frost Legion/Dominion is apparently making a comeback now?

Newest instalment was Janthir part 4. It was nice at first but the story has taken a nose dive back to its state from S3 and the stuff about the mists gate and the titan's vitals makes about as much sense as the void from EoD did.
Half the dialogue consists of competing stronk womyn archetypes bitching at each other over riveting subjects such as "Is it reasonable to use a nuke known for backfiring on its user to open a door?", all while sucking each other's proverbial cocks at every opportunity in-between.

Pretty much everyone on the forums, reddit and discord is shitting on the story, so it's gotta be really fucking bad nowadays. I haven't bought Janthir Wilds myself though, so I can't corroborate the common sentiment.
