Finally, someone fucking says it.
Fujos don't actually play the games they parasite off of. There is a reason that the most popular iteration of a franchise with a fujo infestation happens to almost always be either the outright easiest or the most anime one.
Somewhat on topic to what you were saying, there is also this recent phenomenon from the last five years or so where people will announce online how they're "part of the ____ fanbase". of a game series that's relatively popular at the time.
"Yeah, I'm part of the Elder Scrolls fandom. Probably my favorite series of all time."
"Oh nice, I like those games too. Which one is your favorite?"
"I actually haven't played any of the Elder Scrolls titles, but I love the "lore" (i hate when anyone uses the word lore to talk about video games btw). I watched gameplay videos of skyrim though so I'd say that's probably my favorite."
I don't think it makes sense. The entire point of games is that they're meant to be played and enjoyed as a leisure activity. These people can't find anything better to do with their time? They want to spend hours doing research on video games? How is that more fun than just playing games like people have always done since the very beginning?
Imagine someone wanting to have a Poker game and they invite their friends and neighbors. "Hey I'm having a poker game at the house this Friday. You in?"
"Well no, I don't actually play poker or even know the rules?"
"Really? You're always talking about how much you enjoy card games, especially poker."
"I just read about it online and do research on famous poker games from yesteryear. I'm a big part of the poker fandom actually. I might come over to watch though."
That would be ridiculous, but so is this.
