Honestly they're a good lesson for us when you imagine destabilizing Mexico and committing to a military presence there; anyone who hates us and isn't in any such local conflicts will have a great opportunity to fuck with us. Maybe it's worth it, but you can't only factor in the Mexican state and cartels, there are other powers that will make themselves relevant if they can.
The problem is Mexico is already destabilized.
The other problem is the modern US fights wars to stabilize enemy states in the first place.

So fuck the cartels.
Build the wall.
Drone strike/old-fashioned jet strike their leadership if you can.

But just be warned the cartels will use every tactic in the playbook that the goatfuckers in the Taliban and Hamas used.
I'm not opposed to military action against the cartels, but if you think "this guerilla war will be different", I have a big bridge to sell you.
True, but it would be cheaper, if nothing else, logistics wise. And at least it would actually benefit us, the citizens, by getting rid of them, instead of just the MIC.

It does benefit Mexicans but I saw this strange comment by someone on a left leaning subreddit that claimed if the U.S went to war with the cartels that Mexicans in the U.S would start rioting and burning down cities. I could understand if it was members of the cartels who did that, but why the hell would the average mexican american riot because Trump wanted to get rid of the reason you fled the country? Unless a majority of Mexicans support the cartels, there's no reason to burn down a city because Trump declared war on the cartels and not Mexico itself. Hell, the average Mexican would probably go "Sign me up Trump" and want to help out.

Listen, I hate DR3 crap, but it's mind-boggling how racist libs are. Hispanic voters in the USA are American citizens. Libs just assume that if you've got brown skin and a last name like Ramirez, you just love the cartels. That's exactly why those retards are losing the Hispanic vote, and why Hispanic men actually flipped red. Biden's lawlessness at the border, letting all manner of organized crime run wild, has hit Hispanic-Americans harder than any single group. So no. If we go to war with the cartels, every Juan Castillo and Jesus Garcia in America will be signing up to put a bullet in those bastards.

I think they (redditors/leftists) see the cartels as Robin Hood-esque types of people who are only doing what they do to get by and feed they keeds and that really it's the big bad US's fault that their country is poor in the first place so why shouldn't they rape, rob, and traffic drugs and children to get by.
As much benefit as the internet and media has, it also has the effect of allowing people to become atrocity tourists, and tourists eventually develop retarded perspectives based on the glassed-in view they have of the world. The same drive that compels leftoids to ignore piles of human excrement and pollution and think that India is all Eat Pray Love, Find Yourself spiritualism shit also causes them to view the turbo violent third worlders with rose tinted lenses. These retards have never actually been exposed to the world or how horrible it really is in many places and so they think everything is analogous to here. Those poor Aztec descendants aren't violent sociopaths, they're just poor widdle victims of white supremacy! Obviously those poor jungle bound brown people are just taking revenge on white people because the Spanish conquered them, clearly they never would have turned to drug smuggling and kidnapping extortion under communism, that only happens under capitalism!

Also speaking as a former user, there are lots of these types who are just fucking addicts and don't want to see their fix go away. You know Audrey Cottle? There are a lot of Cottle type retards floating around who go on the DNM forums and whine and bitch about orange man because they know clamping down on the border will make it harder and more expensive to get their fix. I find these types even more unbearable than the retards who are just blinded by muh raycism arguments, because they know fully well the damage the cartels cause and accept it and enable it because God forbid they just stop smoking shitty cartel weed and stop doing coke/fentanyl/meth/etc. I still remember one of my weedbro friends getting butthurt when I told him I voted for Trump because "but he's gonna stop legalization!"
Get fucked druggies

I mean no war has been declared, the cartels are considered terrorist organizations now. There are actual, traditional terrorist organizations out there who have been in that category for decades now and we're not killing them. We're spying on them and able to kill them without congressional approval if we want and it also makes it legal and trivial to spy on them domestically and abroad.
If we're lucky, the illegals just go home whenever they're found and the border is properly secured. But this would absolutely hit drug cartels in their collective pocketbook and (like I said earlier) they might try violence if being sneaky stops working. Or maybe they'll just sell their trash in Beijing.

I think it's simpler than that and perfectly distills the modern leftist viewpoint down to its most basic components: they're predominantly brown people in conflict with predominantly white people. Brown people are always good and victims, white people are always bad and victimizers.

No specific knowledge of a situation is needed beyond the skin tone of the participants to take sides.

The first one is them smuggling people into houston inside a cargo truck,

the second one is more recent where cartel members kidnapped people from a bus,

Heard about the first case, but I don't remember the second; got a link?

they are sub human garbage who arent doing this for food, they are sadists, and they love doing this.

That's something a lot of people, even so-called conservatives, don't seem to grasp; the cartel members aren't people. They don't have a sense of human empathy; they are there for money and power. They aren't "freedom fighters", they're monsters, and they need to be treated as such.

Is it wrong for me to say that I wish Reddit would just get taken off the internet? I mean; they don't contribute anything, aside from being an echo chamber for woketards.

Genuine question with executive orders, the fact that I agree with a lot of what Trump’s doing aside is it not a glaring system issue that a President can essentially rewind a lot of what the last guy did?
Like, it’s good now but you never know what’s up a few years down the line.
It’s a symptom of one of the major problems of modern US goverance.

1. The Legislative Branch has over time become incredibly lazy regarding anything besides pet issues and budgetary fuckfuck games.
2. In service of the above, the Legislature cedes insane amounts of authority to the Executive and its agencies. The Executive then does stopgap measures to keep things moving in ways that often seem insane.
3. The above makes the House and Senate look retarded and makes the President look like a despot if you disagree with any particular policy.

Let's say Trump follows through and hits the cartels harder than they've ever been hit before. Now said cartel has decided to commit multiple terrorist attacks on US soil that result in the deaths of civilians, damage to infrastructure etc. What do you think happens next?
With Trump? He tells the Mexican Government that the Marines are visiting and you can either help or stay out of the way and then the cartels get driven into the sea.

Oh and then they find the Mexican Government was in bed with the cartels and they get strung up.

Fine; I'm just saying before you go in, maybe figure out domestic microchip production and tell Taiwan they'd better start learning Chinese.

Enlighten me please.
it was a metaphorical turn of phrase attributed to jefferson. it involves the establishment and free exercise clauses in the first amendment, and it reads, as you should already know, as follows.
First Amendment said:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

What these people don't understand about the cartels is these aren't ideological fanatics. These are people who want to get rich and live the good life, which they currently can. They live openly in palaces in Mexico, because nobody dares to touch them. A MOAB turning a $50m estate into rubble and previously untouchable leadership into red mist will change that calculus fast. Nobody's going to hole up in the mountains for 20 years and live like it's 500 BC because they're just that fanatically committed the cause of smuggling fentanyl. If being the leader of a cartel means you have to live in a cave or eat a JDAM, a whole lot more Mexican boys will be looking for honest work.
These Cartel guys are in it for the money and power. The durka durkas in Afghanistan- the caves are their home and they're not fucking leaving nigger. Vastly different mindset. Take their money, fast German cars, drugs, and blow up their infrastructure with 2000 pound bombs, they will flee like rats.
