"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

That Pensacola snow is the real deal; usually places that don't regularly get snow freak out over a quarter inch, but they got hit with genuine snow day.

I wonder if the schools are even setup to account for those heh.
I think most schools are closed till Monday. I know my mom's screened in pool's screen collapsed and I'm sure that happened to a lot of people as well.

Yeah, I'm more thinking about how in places that GET snow, they have some days set aside for snow days, and if they use too many they extend the school year a bit into the summer. That kind of procedure may not even exist (though they may have something similar for hurricane days, who knows, lol).

I lived in Alabama till I was like 9 and I THINK they had a day or two a year for snow days, but that was you know, nearly 30 years ago. Maybe @Null will have a better idea, he actually lived down here and went to school here more recently.

Dear Sneeder has (conditionally) pledged his life to President Trump.

To me that first part of the 14th is like "or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution" - it was a dated reference to handle a particular case, and is no longer applicable (there are no slaves born whose citizenship was in question).

There are a bunch of scam artists dressed as monks who wander around tourist areas of New Orleans and it's the classic "Forcibly give or put something on you and then cry you owe them money" scam. I found being immediately super aggressive and rude got them to go away immediately.
There were a few of these when I visited Las Vegas recently, they would hold up a bracelet and offer it to you, I just smiled and held my hand up (HALT fashion) and they never even spoke with me. So maybe they were scammers, maybe they were just monks.

Probably scammers.

We need a 'financial services neutrality act' ASAP.. especially before going further down the road of digital money. Where being cut of means being denied the use of money.
Such services in the modern world are every bit as important as power, water or phone etc. Things we would never let pick and choose who they want to provide services to.

An end-to-end government owned/run payment processor wouldn't hurt either. It would really go a long way to preventing the government from using regulatory threats to force private companies to do things they and banned from doing. (since he courts seem not very interested in enforcing their own rulings on stopping government abuse of regulatory and retaliatory legal threats to achieve things they couldn't legally do)

Just closing the school and telling tv and radio stations are no big deal. Apparently the issue(according to teacher friends) is that there's only so many days a school can call off/cancel before federal funding gets audited or pulled. Northern schools have a snow day budget and usually account for at least a week or two off depending on the area, like planned sick days. Florida I assume doesn't have any, and will likely force those kids to make up the days together with an extra week and the end of the year, which throws off vacation plans and other work arrangements teachers have, etc. It's more wrinkles in more plans.

Updates from Pensacola
Dog's First Snowfall and Dog's First Leafpile are really special, glad you get to enjoy it again unexpectedly. I bet more than half the people there don't even have warm coats, gloves, or shovels.

The inclusion of Wayne Lambright implies he's naming names to stir shit up.

Yeah watching Floridans adapt to unexpected snow storms has been interested. I lived in Colorado for about 11 years and my wife's from Chicago so we can handle the snow. Fortunately I work from home and today is one of her days off, we're both comfortable driving in snow, its just everyone else who's getting to all learn at the same time.

I’ve been buying VHS’ and DVDs and lately watching them with friends. Way comfy, I have a good amount but I think people like having an almost “curated” choice of movies, instead of a waterfall of slop mixed in with an actual movie or show. There’s also something comfy in seeing old ads for movies that were coming out at that time. Last time we had friends over we watched Tiptoes (lmfao) and Beverly Hills Chihuahua while hanging out and talking. Even slop like that is more fun if you own it.

There's a youtube channel I came across that is just uninterrupted adult swim/toonami broadcasts, commercials and all. It's a trip just having it play in the background while doing work.

You can't just post about something like that without linking.

I've been doing this too -- going back to old media. It's insane how exponentially more obnoxious advertisements have become in our lifetime. Back in the 80s and before that, there was often a well-spoken announcer describing a product with some pleasant background music. Late 80s/90s started doing the "overwhelming and insisting upon your attention thing", and then the internet and the concept of "popup ads" set off the fuse to what we have today. Just constantly being screamed at in the most deliberately annoying way possible.

PS: To the guy asking for a link, literally just search "toonami"/"adult swim" on Youtube. You'll see the channel(s).
