I actually think the millennial humor was appropriate for Portal 2. In an IP like Half-Life where the tone is serious it would be out of place (which is why HLA felt so jarring) but Portal from the start was always a little wacky-bizarre. Portal 2 turned it up to 11 but I still think the game was better for it.

I like Portal 2 but the first game was far from wacky. It had a far more dry, subtle sense of humor.

Solarlight has apparently 'helped' with this update, who is the last person you should ever let touch your game design especially if you're going for a classic tf2 style.
did he? considering who he is i'm not seeing him brag about it anywhere though

He’s bragging about it in the comment section of the SFM short in his typical zoomer humour style fashion.

to follow up on that with day 2, these weapon ideas are so terminally retarded it's unfathomable

cross post from tf2 community thread: this is likely the size of the heal bubble that this weapon creates with its grenades looks like. This is from September 2023 though so they may have made it bigger or smaller in the year and some change since the Tf2maps video they did:

Stupid idea tbh. Good way to make pushing for last a herculean task.

but has a strange synergy with crits for some reason i don't understand
to explain, the healing is tripled on eating it or doubled if it's thrown
ah the old crit sandvich joke. old old old joke about how a crit X should do something even if it doesnt deal damage.

ie crit cloak, jarate, banner, etc

I’m not against the classic team trying to give optional play styles for the classes. I’m sure there’s plenty of medics that are bored af that the gameplay is just holding leftclick and jiggling around for 1000 hours. Similar to the huntsman or the nailgun, the ability to try out a new way to play a class might be a breath of fresh air - so I will remain optimistic.

Not super sure about the Uber tho, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna get nerfed pretty hard after it goes live. I think they underestimate how abusable a ‘Fuck You, you are not pushing’ button will be. Especially on maps like gold rush or something where the bubble basically fits over 75% of the chokepoints. I thought it might be more appropriate for it to give a haste buff to a player kinda like what the new civilian melee does.
