1. why are any of you taking anything Candace Owens says at face value? She's shitting herself, the manifesto says she was his biggest influence, disingenuous or not of course she wants to minimize it as much as possible. If her name wasn't involved she would be singing an entirely different tune
2. saying discord can't handle these weirdo mass shooter worship discords is insane, I've had my discord account banned for being in a (very small) server that shared copyrighted content (when I didn't even fucking share any lolz). They clearly review and respond to reports, so why the fuck aren't they banning these discords?
3. this dude wasn't trolling in his manifesto (beyond name dropping everyone possible), he's just an actual autist who was mimicking the community he entrenched himself in. if he was trolling he wouldn't have failed so god damn hard at his objective. he's just *actually* retarded

I actually disagree. He just seemed black pilled, depressed and mentally ill. The manifesto is just irony and sharty humor. That's it. I doubt he thought he was doing something revolutionary, he did clearly however think that he was funnier than he actually is.

What a weirdo .

I guarantee they have law firms searching discord to file copyright shit (just like if you torrent shit without a vpn even if it’s for minutes you’ll get we’ll sue you bullshit).

It is truly a miracle. And the worst part is they spend 16+ years, 8 hours a day and additional hours of homework yet still don't know anything.

Then there's grade inflation leading these kids to believe they're better than they actually are. Colleges also inflate grades to drive admissions.

You get a whole segment of population that thinks they did okay in school yet can't get anywhere in life. If you experience this and see all of this with uncritical eyes, there's a chance you'll get people who just drop out of society in general, in some sort of doom loop, finding company with other people who also think the same and among them psychopaths who prey on these people.

This whole association with esoteric and extremist ideas is nothing but a cope. The smaller and more niche a community is, the easier it is to have any actual affect over it and feel a true sense of belonging, not to mention any group that is member-starved and wanting to grow will welcome anyone, no matter how weird and strange.

Welfare and child support is allowing anyone to pop a kid irresponsibly, that's the sponsor of this kind of behavior to be permitted on a wide scale in the first place. Planned Parenthood as an idea, just the namesake, is a good thing.

Restricting internet use by law is going to stop any of this. Kids need true escapism from school life, recreation in the form of video games, sports, etc. Not everyone can afford homeschooling in time or money terms, but that's probably the best as public schooling does not encourage productive hobbies. You might even get called a loser or something else for being into something niche that's productive nonetheless. Say you're a dude into poetry or romantic essays, etc.

I have also noticed that these groups rarely ever discuss anything. Its either ideas get shit on or hailed, there's no nuance. If you have niche perspectives on things, you'll just be invalidated in favor of more spastic stuff that is even more on the edge. So if you're a lonely teenager whose only sense of belonging and the only thing that gives you validity is this type of atmosphere, I mean, its not hard to see they'll just unthinkingly latch on to more insane stupid shit.

Tbh Discord has tons of these groomers, 'Satanist' edgelords and killer worship servers, and many of them wouldn't be that difficult to police. They usually have to be fairly public in order to advertise and get new members, many of them were even using Disboard. Many of them also rely on bots which automatically sign people's accounts up for each new revival of a server, which could probably be monitored easily.

Sadly, Discord generally seems to have thrown up their hands and mostly given up on dealing with it, their response is often very slow. They'll respond to 'easy' targets, but not to serious issues because these servers are stubborn and will try to keep coming back. If they took the problem seriously, they could deal with it much more effectively than they do.

It's a bit like the British police, they'll gladly interrogate someone for saying mean things online, but if there's a burglary or mugging then usually you can't expect anything from them.

His alleged manifesto, along with other online accounts believed to belong to the shooter, cited Soyjack Party, a far-right reactionary imageboard filled with crude racist and antisemitic humor, as inspiration for his actions.

Shortly after the attack was reported, users on the “Soyjack Party” forum claimed the shooter had been “groomed” into committing his attack through interactions with other users on the site. In response, users on the forum became fearful that their website would be shut down and attempted to hide their discussion about the attack.

Just hours later, the site was moved to a different domain.
