Nah, the full VOD is undoubtedly lost to time and I can’t even find the small clip that was originally part of various “speedrunner cringe compilation videos”, but there was a video of his mom interrupting him while speedrunning DK64 way back in the day. No I’m not mixing it up with the Paper Mario one, different video. His beard was at its longest and greasiest and his mom asked him something and he said “not now mom” in his typical 27-year-old-teenager snarky voice that he always used on her. Don’t remember much else about it, but hopefully that’s enough to trigger the memory. I obviously have no proof but I can promise I’m not gay enough to lie about something like this, but clearly I am autistic enough to remember it. Right in that sweet spot lol. I don’t think Chibi is a fake DK64 fan or DK fan in general, the same way I don’t think he’s not actually a fan of Pokemon or KH or Linkin Park, I just think he goes thru fads of reliking things he hasn’t talked about in years. Maybe it is spurred on by something topical like Chester Bennington dying or DK World being announced, I wouldn’t fault any normal person for having nostalgia triggers like that. The problem with Chibi is that he goes full retard about them and suddenly makes them his entire personality, and anybody who wasn’t around last time he brought it up years ago is reasonably left to assume he’s just latching since he seemingly goes 0-60 about it.

I'm not doubting you, but even if there is evidence he did speedrun DK64 in the past that doesn't really prove he's ever been a fan of the series. It's always been a fairly popular/notorious speedrun due to the insane amount of collectables and how broken it is, so Chibi running it isn't surprising.

I feel like if he was the super fan he makes himself out to be with that cringe jacket we wouldn't have to try so hard to find footage of him interacting with any parts of the franchise.

I think this is more a result of him DFE-ing and replacing everything, including his hugbox, every few years. If VODs were still up from the old days, if fans were still around from then, I don’t think anyone would be shocked that Chibi’s playing DK64 again. They’d say “oh yeah I remember he ran/liked that game a while back”. They’d roll their eyes at how suddenly he’s making it his whole existence, but no one would really think he’s some kind of fake fan.

TLDR I’m not defending him, I just don’t think this sudden Donkey Kong fandom is nefarious or fake, just sudden, rekindled by something happening in Japan, over zealous and retarded like everything else he does.
