A bunch of my friends loved Season 2, but I thought it was absolute shit.
I'm hoping I'm wrong, as S1 had pleasantly surprised me.
- The Jinx plot armor got to ridiculous levels. No matter what evil shit she did or how outplayed she was by other characters, she would always get away and face zero consequences.
- The pacing felt rushed to the point that nothing felt important. They never gave anything time to have it's impact shown on the world.
- Shippers took control of the writing. They tried way too hard to force the Powder/Ekko stuff, tried to make Jayce/Victor stuff (Ignoring that Jayce was already with someone), and rushed the Cait/Vi stuff so fast that it felt unnatural.
- The Cait/Vi sex scene felt trashy. Jinx makes a vaguely suicidal statement and leaves. But instead of going after her, Vi needs to have an out-of-nowhere, over-the-top lesbian sex scene in a dirty jail cell
- Nothing was actually resolved. Piltover and Zhon still hate each other, Piltover is in ruins with most of its leaders and heroes dead or missing, the threat of whatever the "Arcane" was is still out there, and it's hinted that Jinx is still alive due to plot armor.
I'm hoping I'm wrong, as S1 had pleasantly surprised me.

When Cait's cop subordinate first showed up I thought "oh no they're gonna do a love triangle" so I looked up the character on the wiki and was quite amused to find no dedicated page, she's only listed on Cait's page as "rebound fling" while stating "Vi and Cait are a couple in every universe where they are both alive"

Even YouTubers with big time audiences are in agreement that it's a 'rushed masterpiece', which means that it isn't really a masterpiece, but they still feel compelled to say it is. This despite the two seasons being nearly identical in length. If the rumours are true, the last episode was supposed to be a full hour in length. We got 53 minutes, most of it filler and Marvel slop.
Don't forget that ridiculous and retarded Enforcer bit where she's mocking Jinx on her pants and doesn't know who she is despite wanted posters being literally everywhere.
The argument I hear is, 'oh you don't like to be spoonfed information! It's all there, it's just subtle!' It gets dumber and dumber on subsequent rewatches and you are left nitpicking more and more.
Ironic that Jayce's LoL voice lines has him clearly still loving Mel, and willing to work things out with her even if they don't love each other anymore. That Jayce was the one I wanted to see in Episode 8, rather than the asshole who started blaming her for shit he willingly walked into. It would have been so much better if he had a brief breakdown and had doubts about his future and his strength, and Mel was there to remind him that no matter what, he is the Defender of Tomorrow and he is never 'weak' for crying or breaking down. It would have been a major tender moment and a proper 'end' to their relationship if they wanted it that way.
I knew just from that ending still that it was going to launch a thousand fics - and it did, thricefold. Even though their deaths were for nothing and it sends a terrible message that if your science cannot be improved or fixed - which it COULD - you should just die. Viktor himself was just an agent of the Arcane vs being himself, and no one asks how Jayce was able to activate that rune in the Hexcore realm unless Mage Viktor activated it somehow. We're left to guess.
I prefer the cardboard sex theory from 4chan where they banged in Vi's apartment. Hell it still would've sucked, but Vi would've done it in a place she called home and Cait would've 'humbled' herself there.
Look at the reactors. They all cried over Isha's death and one faggot could not stop sperging about how Jayce and Viktor needed to get together. I bet he doesn't even have a clue what they did in their original lore.
Unless they get the OG writers back or a better writing team, Noxus will probably have the same shit as Arcane S2.
Maddie's VA got death threats from CaitVi shippers just for voicing Maddie, a plot device that was made to be hated. If she were an actual character who was willing to be a FWB with Cait but had her doubts about Ambessa and actually WENT THROUGH AN ARC, her living or dying would have had a better impact. I knew from the leaks she was clearly bait, and everyone on 4chan agreed. In hindsight, I wish the entire season was leaked on 4chan so that it could be mocked beforehand and everyone would know how bad it was. Well, we did get five episodes and people were in disbelief over the leaks that came out before the third act because of how bad it sounded.

Never really got the hype over Arcane and frankly the Tumblrina-tier fanbase it has cultivated makes me even more negatively inclined towards it.

First off, Golion, the anime Voltron was based off of, was typical edgy slop. There's rape in the show, mercifully off-screen. Lotor (Sincline in the Nipnong version) was conceived that way and fixated on Allura/Fala because she looks like his mom and he wants to fuck his dead rape victim mom. He also rapes Romelle/Amue, Allura's cousin who also looks like her (and therefore his mom) off screen. He captures her as a slave, basically says she's no Allura, but she'll do, and whacks her on the head knocking her out. She comes back completely dead eyed and traumatized. She does get a pro-active role as a leading figure in the rebellion against the bad guys, at least.
The 1984 highly edited version and the 2016 version are sexless as fuck though, including the fag character, Shiro. Who we don't even find out is a fag until the seventh season (there are eight saeasons in all). It's revealed in a scene so brief and benign, it's almost forgettable. He's an actual case of a gay male character done right. It doesn't matter that he's a rump-ranger, because no one talks about it. Everything about him is plot based. It's only in the 11th hour that we learn this. They topped it off with a very brief shitty ending where he married a dude with very little personality in an attempt to placate muh representation faggots. It didn't work.
Shows like Arcane, and especially fucking She-Ra, were way more faggy. Which is probably why the worst Voltron fans shit up the Internet so bad. They didn't get the never ending fag show they wanted.

Arcane as a whole was only rewarding to fans and stans cause they knew where it'd lead. They started out the story with the last episode in mind. "We need to reach this point with the characters", then added a bunch of art house bullshit and semi music videos along the way.

I hate the Jayce/Victor shit so much. It's become a holy crusade for Fujo-Trash and Tumblrites.
If they'd kept up with S1 writing, they could've had a pretty compelling story about two best friends who became enemies. Jayce got distracted by booty. And without him there to keep Victor in check, Vic went full mad-scientist.
Jace wanted to weaponize Hextech, something Victor was against, while Victor wanted to integrate hextech into people at the cost of their humanity, something Jayce found horrifying.
Develop that further. Make Victor's Hextech be imperfect and despite his best efforts, his attempts to "enhance" people always end up turning them into lobotomized steampunk-style cyborgs instead of the perfected living metal being that he is.
Show Jayces Hextech weapons being absolute overkill that cause huge collateral damage. Have them start ending up in the hands of criminals and terrorists. And show them having some terrible side-effects from being weaponized, like leaving areas irradiated or something.
And maybe have Heimer point all this out and end up going into detail about what sort of "Arcane" thing he saw that traumatized him against mixing magic with tech like they both are now.
But nah, screw all that! According to the degenerate fanbase, any males who have a close friendship are actually gay and the root of any conflict between them is just angsty gay drama.
