I’m sure Yall are totally right, but I do want to point out that in the screenshot you posted the people who are considerably taller (an average of ~3ish inches difference is quite a bit) is self reported.Yeah, I remember reports about cannibalism in North Korea from that period. Greatly exaggerated, I'm sure, because the public loves sensationalism, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of it was true.

You're probably right about the quality of food and how it shapes growth patterns. SE Asian men are always jokingly called manlets, but here too you see the same patterns you describe among whites. Thai university students (assumed to be solidly middle or upper class), on average, have 3-4 inches of height on "agricultural workers". If you look at the statistics for India, you'll see a similar pattern. One can deduce that most non-white populations would have a male average of ~5'9'' if nutrition was ideal.
People often guess, and/or pad the numbers. It’s how the “African dudes have huge cocks thing” got started iirc- it was a self reported study/survey. The More machismo/“manly” the ideals are the bigger the dick being reported was lol. It also takes for granted people know how to do these things properly- how to properly measure yourself and such.
To My data kiwis, does this change much? Or is it just too difficult to know?
