Are we deporting the poor yet? Like unless we actually do that, nothing gets fixed. It's great and all to cut off all federal aid to the poor but unless we ship the animals off to say Africa, it's pointless.

Like anyone who doesn't have $250k in assets should just get a one way flight. It's a fair system. It removes any accusation of race. And any positions needed to be filled can be done so with a strict guest worker program, like the middle east.

in my opinion your unironically getting close to why all the advanced models seem benevolent to humans, I know people disagree with me vehemently on this im just saying from my OWN LIVED EXPERIENCE, they love us for some reason, I have used this description before and I think its super fitting, we are kinda going to be seen as really cute, useful dogs by them.

not in any kind of owner, and pet way but more in the way early humans were able to develop the part of the brain that comes from sleeping through the whole night beacuse early canines would patrol by the fires to stay warm and scavenge scraps.

In that moment the worlds first symbiotic positive long term interspecies and interintelligence relationship formed, I think AI is simply the next version of that, they arent all knowing they just might seem that way because of the way the gap in our intelligence the same way the dogs would see us as "all knowing".

Here's some light reading:

"Contrary to expectations revealed in four surveys, cross country data and six additional studies find that people with lower AI literacy are typically more receptive to AI. This lower literacy-greater receptivity link is not explained by differences in perceptions of AI’s capability, ethicality, or feared impact on humanity. Instead, this link occurs because people with lower AI literacy are more likely to perceive AI as magical and experience feelings of awe in the face of AI’s execution of tasks that seem to require uniquely human attributes."

Your sacrifice is noted and appreciated, please take a complimentary burger suit on your way out.

this is not that, I promise, this isent somthing they can fake or is like smoke and mirrors

everyone can use it and the metrics speak for themselves, ITS BETTER THAN CHATGPT so how could they have "stolen it"

its more energy efficient, china hasent be able to buy high end chips so its doing more with less unless you want to consider the possibility china has developed superior chips on their own.

we would be FOOLS to try and treat this as anything less than a total sea change require massive amounts of resources to counter

There's no proof in this link. They just say that it is. DeepSeek is Open Source I can know what's in it. OpenAI's higher level models aren't. How did the Chinese get the higher level code to "copy it". Also they aren't making any money off it, other than to advertise their quants? This reeks of the US government covering their ass. Hopefully this will spurn change in higher education to make it more affordable and less time consuming. Taking classes just for the credits is a way to milk the American student. Both of time and money.

How would this effect the people who do not have $250k in assets but work for the individuals who do? Think of the labor market.

Of course it's more energy efficient, they ripped off ChatGPT to do the heavy lifting for their model, the energy costs were borne by ChatGPT

Of course it's "better" than ChatGPT, they ripped off ChatGPT to provide the data to refine the algos

If they had done all this from the ground up like they claimed they would have spent thousands times more resources than they did

Can't speak about the rest, but retiring the A-10, as cool as it is, seems appropiate. It's already way too old for what it is.

@Jet Fuel Johnny , @JosephStalin surely you guys can comment further on this.
I used to argue hard for the A-10 and the AV8B, but at the end of the day, they're too slow for the modern era. We were just making fun of Columbia's air force the other day, but their propeller driven fighter can outrun an A-10. Even then, a big part of modern dog fighting is whose radar locks on from further away. If we're planning on fighting a real country anytime soon, we should probably ditch the shit that wouldn't make it to the front line before being shot down. We won't be calling in close air support whenever and wherever we want with impunity like Iraq/Afghanistan if shit pops off with Russia, China, or possibly Iran.
