I haven't seen anyone post this here. EA officially stated in their press release that the game performed below 50% of approximated expectations. They hoped it would sell 3 million copies, but it sold 1.5 million. Bioware is most likely getting axed.

I don't know if Bioware was ever going to be super conservative, but at least they had talent. The competency problem will solve itself, people will simply leave companies rotting from the inside out and move on to greener pastures. Go woke, go broke, not much more to it.

It's generational. The amount of young conservatives who go into IT or art or music or what have you used to be tiny. In the 2000s, young conservatives were pushed into useless business programs or some kind of trade because "muh real men do manual labor and/or jewish finance tricks." Art was seen as some faggy shit that didn't make money and tech was faggy coastal shit for nerds, so conservatives steered clear.

That's not to say they don't exist. But their numbers are too small to really sway the industry.

I think it's turning around but it's still gonna take a while before the amount of people in the industry without tranny brainworms is large enough to make a real difference.

Well good thing I never said 4 was my favorite. It also wasn't DICE's biggest shit show of a release, that would BF1. BF1 launched in a state where games couldn't actually come to an end, didn't allow you to choose servers or game modes thanks to borrowing CODs stupid fucking playlist nonsense, constant crash issues, and retained all of the bugs that had been in the series since 3 like projectiles veering 30 degrees off course for no reason when fired, ghost hitboxes of downed players still standing vertically and blocking shots, wiping out and never re-establishing their community support, failing to launch with a community test environment yet again,

Like I said, it was playable. Don't know how the fuck that translates in your mind to determining it must be one of my favorites or something(honestly that probably would go to BF3 anyway).

If EA can direct orders to their subsidiaries that DEI is no longer popular and should no longer be in their games and the studios, Bioware (Canada) and DICE (Sweden) must follow these orders or risk layoffs. Sony Interactive (not the parent company), Microsoft, and Activision-Blizzard are also big corporations headquartered in America with tentacles everywhere.

Honestly, you don't even need Trump for this, because every company seems to follow Amazon's example these days in destroying their DEI departments.

I'd personally rather have reduced blatant political messaging in my vidyas. I don't need them to be a snapshot of which political aisle was more prominent that decade.

It's also that conservative men tend to be attracted to jobs that mesh well with family life. When your industry model is to treat people like slaves during crunch time and constantly lay them off, expecting people from jump from company to company as work periodically dries up, then you're going to get a bunch of deranged losers who can't maintain a family/social group as employees. That will eventually become your company culture, because normal people will be put off by both the cultish and personal-life crushing work culture and by the mass of losers that they have to work with. It's a self-reinforcing spiral.

That's why I like Scott Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights at Freddy's. The conservative christian man made one of the biggest indie videogame franchices without politics or any sort of agenda. He just made games that he thought would be fun. Then he retired as a dev without any controversy after finishing the series. Aside from the people that cried when they discovered that he was donating money to republicans.

My memories of 1980s EA are colored by the fact they distributed so many of my favorite games as a kid: Bard's Tale, Wasteland, even this oddball interactive fic called Amnesia. I didn't realize they were up to no good even then (although their refusal to let go of either the Wasteland or Bard's Tale IPs should have tipped me off). What else were they doing back then?
Basically EA has always been a vulture that buys IPs and studios and then attaches a bunch of conditions to whether they get published. Originally it was minor stuff, but then they would buy up a live service game, cripple people's access to standard features and resell it via microtransactions. Or they would buy a dying game, try to monetize it, then close it and turn the studio into another sports game maker. Or they would buy up the studio that is developing an unfinished game, and then cancel the game before it can finish and integrate part of the studio into more sports or gimmick game stuff.

Lots and lots of games will have the EA logo attached for publishing reasons, but EA isn't Nintendo. They don't really make games, they just buy pre-existing games. Every game that does have EA's logo would still exist without them and probably would be better off as well. And they WILL axe studios if they feel like they're not bringing in the shekels. The sales numbers on pronounguard, if this were any studio other than Bioware, we'd see a slew of articles decrying a gigantic layoff and even a demonstration like with Bungie. Whoever's job survived would be forced to work on a FIFA game. The only reason they're alive is because Bioware is a legendary company with legendary titles like KOTOR and NWN, and EA hopes that they can keep pumping out good sales numbers by coasting on the fame from the early-2000s games. But even for bioware, being in EA's clutches means they have a big fucking sword of Damocles dangling over their heads.

If I was at Bioware and completely purging the staff was not an option, meaning I'm stuck with dangerhairs for creatives, I would insist on the idea of ditching the famous IPs and take the dustborn route. Make brand new IPs designed to be gay, anti-white sociopolitical garbage from the ground up. That way the 'creatives' are able to make exactly the game they want without being held back by the already sizable lore of the past few games in each IP. And if the studio is downsized, the games not selling wont even be an issue because with all the NGO grants and ESG money coming in, they could sell zero copies and still make a profit.

Because when you try to organize something like what they did on the other side, most people's reaction is 'this is gay I'm out'. You can't get people to maintain and coordinate to browbeat studios or publishers into hiring one of your guys, which is the basis of how the long march begins. Back then people insisted that this could never work, but the bluehairs proved that it can.
 
How does EA still have investors at this point? Their games have been flopping since the late 10's and it's just been one PR disaster after another.
Because they rake in billions of dollars in microtransations from their sports games.

Just the FIFA shit alone was making them over a billion dollars a year to the point where it averaged out to 1 billion a year for the past 2 decades, and FIFA was only getting 150 million a year for the name. Increasing it to 250 a year was what made EA pull the plug.

There's also NHL, College Football, F1, UFC, WRC, Madden, PGA, and all of those games are just loaded up with microtransactions just like the soccer games.

Public companies have a whole lot of problems but their transparency is the best thing about them. Annual reports are often glossy corporate propaganda but it gives a good idea of where the money is going.

I'm reluctant to believe a corporation feels any emotion other than greed. But I also saw the Sims series get buried in so much overpriced, predatory microtransaction bullshit that it killed a decades-old evergreen fanbase (most of them women) who, until that point, would gobble up any shit Sims-related EA shat out. Then when the game was considered a failure and it was confirmed nobody was buying the microtransactions, EA euthanized the sequel and kept producing DLC nobody was buying.

I think part of the problem with The Sims was it was more to the people developing it than the players, because despite women being, well, women, I don't think the main playerbase asked or wanted them to bend backwards for the woke crowd.

Animal Crossing got a lot of comparisons to The Sims when it came out over 20 years ago, and yet every installment Nintendo makes is seemingly more successful than the last, and while it has some "Type A/Type B" shit it's not NEARLY as DEI as The Sims is.

You know what would be a good game that I'd buy from EA? A remastered version of SimCity 4. Not a remake, a new version with source code release, bug fixes, and QoL changes, without needing the horseshit to try to get it to run on modern computers. It could be done on an inexpensive budget, too.
