I'm not 100% sure how personal and academic loans work but if they're anything like mortgages and related financial products (HELOCs, etc) then there are multiple stopgaps to ensure that this doesn't happen, but it is still possible on the grounds that the financial product in question is attached to real property that presumably exists and can't be smuggled back to India or wherever

The idea that some financial origination drone authorized this, even with a guarantor or something, just blows my fucking mind and I'm certain they're going to get grilled shortly
