It’s all political theater. Very few of these hearings have mattered the last few decades. Honestly I wish this we never allowed c span to put cameras in the meetings so the reps and senators didn’t have an incentive to play for soundbites. I know it’s “less transparent” but the current perverse incentives far outweigh the opaqueness it would bring back. Kinda sucks.
