I know he wasn't always like this, but he certainly seems to have bought into everything. When Trump won in November, he seemed genuinely distressed. He was on the verge of tears. It's bizarre.

He used to host the man show and dress in black face. Sadly he took the deal just like Dr. Drew did and split from the uncontrollable Adam corolla. Adam talks about it on his show sometimes. The beginning of the end in each case was them agreeing to take a raise leaving Adam behind instead of equal salaries.

I don't know anyone going to top Ivy league schools. They're filled with foreigners. However, I've attended state university, and my Grandfather and older Sister were/are physics and math professors at ok state universities. The quality of student in the last 10 but especially the last 4 years have dropped precipitously. We might have a few top of the top places, but they're filled with non-citizens. Many of whom are Chinese themselves and leave the country to build dams in Africa.

The bachelor's curriculum is identical between state schools and "elite" schools. You'll be taught by an unintelligible grad student for half your classes no matter which school you go to, but a state school will be a fraction of the cost. Master's degrees these days are sadly just degree mills for foreigners wanting visas. PhD programs' quality depends on what you're researching and who your advisor is, not what school you go to.

The only people who care about the "eliteness" of a school are tiger moms.

The problem is, American citizens never signed up to be the protectors of these foreign nations. I've watched family become disabled, both physically and mentally, defending shitholes across the globe. If the American people were benefiting from these trade deals then it would be a different story. If you look at the heartlands of America they are decimated by global trade, and endless war. China having no power projection is good for them. That is what has raised their people's standards of living.

If you don't like the arrangement, you can leave. This isn't North Korea. Considering how few countries directly fuck with the US than, say, Uganda, I think the results are demonstrable. You can be born in West Bumfuck, Oklahoma and have a nice life. The same cannot be said for all the poor bastards born in China, or India, or Senegal.

Travel the world sometime. It won't make you more cultured, but it will make you realize how absolutely fucked the rest of the world is compared to the USA. People still die of tuberculosis in many countries, which is basically eradicated in the USA. As the saying goes: freedom isn't free. It's paid for in blood, sweat, and delicious US dollars.

I did not badmouth state schools but, while we're on the subject, your average US state school is usually better than even top-tier universities in developing countries. Chinese students coming here instead of going to their native universities sort of proves my point.

That's a rational response, yes. Increase the available surgeons.

The people screaming "healthcare is a human right!" don't think that way. They would not respond to the proposition as you did. They would instead start explaining how the only available surgeon must start working 16 hour days, 7 days a week. Then they'll start in on how to "prioritize" patients -- who deserves brain surgery more than the others?

They can really only conceive of "shoving more throughput into a pipe;" the concept of "adding more pipes" is foreign to them.

Also, even if they do stumble upon the "add more surgeons" argument, then you get to ask how many hours they should work, how much they should be paid, who should pay them, where that money should come from, and whether they should still be kept on (and paid) if the demand for brain surgery goes back down.

They never think that far ahead, so all of these questions break their brains. It's really funny, and you should seriously try it.
