Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

"OOOOOOOOOOH!"

I tried reading it... but it just isn't catching me, I stopped when it was still a gag manga but the first tournament thing happened. Is it worth soldering on?
Kinnikuman has a lot of ups and downs, especially in the early days. It's kind of all over the place until the 6 devil knights arc. I haven't disliked an arc since then, but to get there you have to power through some of the least liked arcs by fan and a second chojin Olympics arc.

The translations for the last arc before the revival are also notoriously bad. A lot of people say the new revival anime is a good starting point too. If you like the first few episodes, you'll definitely find the motivation to finish the original manga. If not, it's probably not worth your time.

The worst part of a lot of manga or fiction in general is when a side character starts vastly becoming more interesting than the main character and the author doesn’t fucking make a spin off or realize that the main character needs to get a personality or can actually fuck off from the story.

Like Golden Kamui is the primary example I can think of where Aspira and Sugimoto just kinda are there by the end of it. The gay pseudo-commies they hang with are boring as is the basic bitch samurai dude. Tsurumi just dominates the series and you want him to win because he’s just too charismatic. The Hunter guy and his wife were the only characters I actually gave a shit at the end.

I actually welcome the protagonist fucking off. Some series are better off with it where the original protagonist literally isn’t the main character of the universe and every character is constantly asking where they are.

Finished JoJolion. That was a fun read. I still prefer Part 7 over it, despite Part 8 having some of the coolest Stands and panels that Araki has ever drawn.

Now to wait a few months for JoJoLANDS to begin publishing over here.

I swear, knowing Spanish is second only to learning Japanese for reading manga.

That's a shame, it starts really good.
To this day I only finished reading the Fate/stay night manga becaause I tracked the Spanish version lol.

It was funny because they translated Bedivere with the galician name Bedwyr.

Also is there any manga about the Age of Exploration?
Saw this images in a video game guide and wondered:

To this day I could mever understand how Sakura Taisen went from a game to a multi year stage show adaptations and got so much female fans.

I know it is a multi media project but I get it having anime and manga, not stage shows with music and so on.

It's.a game franchise with a theatrical troupe who perform musical shows, it's natural that it would get.real-life stage adaptations.

Will they make a new game after Project Sakura Wars?
I think the last game underperformed and they invested in a failed gacha so it's probably doomed.

There had been way too many series killed by gacha, every dumbass in management thinks that they can get people to dump thousands of dollars for waifus that last appeared 20 years ago. Or alternatively trying to make an original gacha in a market already heavily saturated.

Is there any modern anime series where the english dub isn't horseshit? Tried watching a few with interesting enough premises or ones I originally read the story for and the voices are just awful. It's either the voices or the editing cause sometimes the lines don't even sound like they're part of the show.

Trying to watch something with a dyslexic kid so subs are not ideal. We've tried a few from when I was young like Dragon Ball Z and Zoids Chaotic Century which they liked. Also kid did not like My Hero Academia.

Suggestions are appreciated.

I'm sorry the last good English Dub was Space Dandy and that was 11 years ago.

I was impressed by Dandadan's dub. The best I've heard since Death Note is Noragami (not exactly new, but yeah). Here's a taste of it.

Shield Hero is above average, and it's obvious but Dragon Ball Daima.

stage plays are nothing out of the ordinary for japan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2.5D_musical

just put in "anime + stage" into your search engine of choice, and you'll likely get several results.

the problem wasn't gacha, the problem was sega being sega.

they honestly tried with the ps4 game (they never put on pc, gg) but iirc it fucked with the old characters which pissed of the old fans. there was also an anime that from what remember wasn't that bad, more mediocre/boring I think.

When I was younger, I would play the Sakura Wars theme for people and tell them that it was the national anthem of Japan. Most of them believed me.
wrong theme

Because it's got the best female robot pilots aside from maybe Aya from Super Robot Wars:
God, I love all the steam-powered vehicles on the side. This show has some really cool cars and airships. Also, though the second OVA and the New York OVA are kinda crap since they're more like Tenchi Muyo OVAs than mecha OVAs, the Paris OVAs are really cool.

W-what about Yamato? :(

And why the answer is always: every single one?
Yes, but special mention to Togusa. He's basically just a normal guy who manages to keep up with cybernetically enhanced supersoldiers through practical thinking and ground-pounding. Having a proper everyman is an oft-neglected part of sci-fi/fantasy stories.

I only watched the new anime and the teacher is one of the most beautiful and majestic characters designs to my memory.

It was designed by the persona guy
