I think people don't necessarily understand that picking out traffic in the sky is not exactly easy and while it's a little easier at night because of the nav lights, it's still difficult. Then I think I came pretty close to get written out of the will by my parents, who were Zodiac Killer supporters. Family stuff got tense, I can still remember the deflated look in my mom's eyes when I called that closeted Mormon glowie faggot "Egg McMuffin." Good times. I worked morning shift, so the night of the election I slept through the afternoon, woke up to Trump doing well and watched the Methnostate flip red in real time, watched Trump memes for a few hours after. As someone who, stupidly, followed politics in the 90s as a teenager, watching Hillary get shut down was like a weight lifting from my shoulders. I had a few quiet Trump supporting co-workers, we were all relieved but knew to keep our heads down at first.
Doomerism is just demoralization in action. Say what you will about Yuri, he was right about that, and having been demoralized in my life about other things before it's a fucking hard thing to break out. Goes hand in hand with learned helplessness a lot of times. Sometimes I think the only way out of it is to bottom out, don't get filtered by Nihilism, and start the long climb back out of the abyss.
