Climate Defiance activists physically struggled with Gaylord Hotel security as they marched inside the hotel toward the Democratic National Convention at the Gaylord Hotel in National Harbor, Maryland on Friday.
"Which side are you on, Dems, which side are you on?" the protesters chanted as security pushed them back and ultimately took their banner by force.
"We need clean air, not another billionaire!" protesters chanted as Gaylord Hotel security pushed them back from the direction of the Democratic National Convention.
Some even placed chairs in their path as a makeshift barrier.
United States Capitol Police stood by as private security faced off with the climate activists, who ultimately left the hotel without any arrests.
"Hey Dems, get off it, put people over profit!" they chanted as they exited.
"We took over the chairmanship election at the Democratic National Committee," said Climate Defiance leader Michael Greenberg. "We're calling on them to fight for people, not polluters and plutocrats."
"The Democratic Party is asleep at the wheel!" he added. "We made our presence known and I think we were definitely heard."
"No hard feelings" he told a security officer who had struggled with the group minutes earlier.
Before dispersing outside the Democratic National Committee meeting, the climate activists let out one final "primal scream" in protest.
