Canada is a totally failed state and not just because of Trudeau.
Its political system is poorly designed and only works when "good" people run it as there are few checks and balances on a tyrant such as Trudeau.
Some examples:
1. There are no property rights in Canada
2. All rights - speech, association, belief - are subject to a clause that the government can revoke them if they think it necessary
3. The courts are weak and have the ability to "read in" extensions to the various laws never envisioned by the original writers of the bill, without oversight or need to go back to legislature
4. As Trudeau has demonstrated - along with others - Law can be enforced via Orders in Council without oversight and virtually no recourse, even through the courts
5. There are built in rights ascribed to certain regions, notably Quebec, which gives them effectively veto on things they do not like
6. There are interprovincial barriers and tariffs between provinces and many professions cannot practice in another province without relicensing.,
7. Significant differences in representation with a very small province having 4 representatives for only 160,000 people versus (worst case - Alberta) having about 120,000 per representative.
8. The government structure has no effective means to represent regional variations in the manner of the US senate. Canada's senate are lifetime political appointments who do little but obstruct and as of this time, almost entirely appointed by Trudeau.
9. Canada has been mooching off of the US military for 50+ years to the point where it has no meaningful way of protecting itself.
10. The Federal role versus Provincial roles are generally not observed as written in the founding documents, in fact, are regularly trampled on by Trudeau and are becoming meaningless.
11. It has no national identity and I would argue there are at least 5 disparate, virtually incompatible cohorts which are geographically spread across the country: the Maritimes, Quebec, Central Canada (Ontario), the West and Indigenous peoples. There is zero chance of those cohorts getting together and reshaping the country in any meaningful way, as there is no core identity - other than "Not American"
Canada has been a failure on almost every dimension.
- It is next to the largest market in the world and has an open border with it
- It has natural resources which are close to limitless
- It has been untouched by war or conflict since 1812
- It has had the luxury of lavish spending on social programs due in no small part to not needing to cater for its own defence
- it has an easy "sell" of resources to the USA which brings in lots of money without the kind of efforts that smaller, less blessed countries (like the Netherlands) have had to undertake just to develop a high standard of living.
....and it places "average" on almost every economic dimension,
So, it ends up being beholden to the Americans, all the while arrogantly proclaiming their superiority. Well, if the idiots in charge had built the East/West pipelines, made a taxation system that does not drive out its best and brightest to the USA, removed inter-country barriers and leveraged the regional capabilities, did not regulate and legislate enormous barriers against investment...well..
You would not be in the position you are in, firmly clutching your ankles and pretending you can fight Trump.
Buncha losers....time for Canada to break up.
