A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Oh absolutely agreed. I talk at a surface level about the weather to local members I see doing litter picks. It's a nice thing they do with that.

That said the BBC interview does show how weak the BBCs journalism is and that's useful

Going by blue checks on X, it looks massive. I also can't find hardly any references to it from any majors outlets, sans 1 BBC article about a handful of people getting arrested at the event. Based on those sources, I'm having a hard time deciphering the truth. I figured I'd ask the locals.

There's been another (3rd one in a year) noticable uptick in the amount of fresh wogs wondering around my town. By summer, I reckon 10% of the town will be pakiniggers.

These new lot stink of shit worse than any others, like, literal shit. Pakis always stink but the average spear-chucker usually looks and smells clean. These lot smell like they were butterfly-netted while rolling around in fresh dikdik turds.

My sleepy little town has been seeing more wogs and weirdly chinks as of late. It was already swarming with Pakis, Bangladeshis and some Albanians but now were getting every other sort of brown as well to complete the set.

The white flight has been real though, I see no one I went to school with anymore and even others I do occasionally catch up with have said the same thing.

One to make the mind wonder:

Man arrested after 'attack' leaves officers injured

I'll give you the cliff notes:

  • Man arrested on suspicion of assault, arson and criminal damage.
  • Two coppers taken to hospital with injuries, but discharged.
  • Third rozzer hurt but didn't go to hospital.
  • 27 year old (no name) from Llantrisant, Wales, is in custody.
  • Eye witnesses say 20 cop cars, including 3 cop vans attended the scene.
Some quotes from the MP and head of the local filth:

Said her thoughts were with the injured officers and their families.
she added, urging people to avoid the area.
She urged people to "remain calm and vigilant".
Our officers showed great bravery and quick thinking during the altercation
"We are at the early stages of our investigations and currently the motive for this attack is unclear."
He added that South Wales Police are working to "understand the full circumstances" but it is believed to be a targeted attack focusing on the police.

Un-named 27 year old, motivated attack against the coppers, who responded in force, but the locals have to keep away, remain vigilant and calm?

These phrases, the careful wording and lack of name of the perp are all the same schtick used when a wog goes stabby or blowy-uppy. What are the chances that this is a brownoid who was on a watch list, hence the OTT response?

I'm happy to be completely wrong here and accept i'm a paranoid schitzo jumping at shadows that look like wogs.

Edit: did a little bit more digging to find a name but wasn't successful. I did find this tidbit though:
