Trade War 2025 - You get tariffs and you get tariffs, tariffs for everyone!

Excited to see the inevitable future r/fuckcars thread crossposts with faggots bitching about American cars for the billionth time because of this
Not sure if r/fuckcars are fans of american cars but whatever

I don't actually give a shit about american cars, except for the mid to late 1960 mustangs,
but as the nuclear clensing option to deal with the german question is not on the table, I am ok with destroying their indistrial base as a consolation option.

As Trump is too weak to use his powers to solve the german question once and for all. At least he could rename their country and rewrite the history books to erase it.
Instead of germany, call it West Poland. There is the good and glorious parts of Poland, i.e. East-Poland and there is the shit part , i.e. West-Poland.

They don't take our cars, they don't take our farm products, they take almost nothing and we take everything from them. Millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and farm products
"They don't want our shit but we use theirs! This is out of line! I'm going to impose a tariff on all products we get in from them until they start using our shit!"

Is that the message I'm supposed to be getting out of this?

I'm seeing stuff about Canada already having tariffs on US goods like dairy, so things like cheese and milk supposedly have about 250% tariffs on them, butter being at 300%.

Makes me curious how much that Canada could really do new tariffs on that would actually change anything. It doesn't really seem like these countries can affect anything significantly the way the US can by just flexing its economic muscles lightly.

Then you have over 95% of Canada's oil seems to get sold to the US, likely because of geographic and infrastructure for it. They can't flip a switch to decide to sell elsewhere that easily since they depend on their pipelines. So I'm not sure they'd be able to sell for the same price and let the buyers in the US eat the tariff, as American buyers would have the choice of forcing their hand and demanding they lower their prices to force Canada to eat the tariff against them.

Regarding what Canada and Mexico really need to change, in the eye's of Trump, there really is plenty with the drugs and immigration even if we ignore the pure trade issues. Both these countries have acted pretty arrogantly assuming the US can't do without them, when it really just can?

A lot of crime ends up affecting the US due to Canada's lax immigration policy letting so many come in on student visas, you have fentanyl being produced and brought over from Canada, and so on. Plenty stuff Canada could crack down on. Though I feel like the major problem is Canada being more interested in looking defiant towards Trump than cooperative. It would have been easy to do a few press conferences highlighting how Canada is trying to work with the US to meet Trump's demands regarding immigration, but instead they focused on how they would do retaliatory tariffs. Strikes me as less than useful to act combative with a guy that is in a much stronger bargaining position than you.

And also because the tar-sands are of a grade so heavy that normal refineries can not process it even if they want to.
Only a few dozen refineries in the world have the special special infrastructure to handle tar-sands and almost all f them are in continental US.

Good luck selling this "crude" to other countries/refineries who does not have the capability to process it.

Looks like the UK may actually escape getting tariffed, or at least avoid getting hit with the heaviest ones from reading that article. It's entirely possible Kier fucks something up (which, if Trump praised him, might be improbable) or negotiations get fumbled but it looks like the UK might be otherwise spared. The US doesn't have a goods trade deficit with the UK, and the UK is one of the few members of NATO that pays what's expected (the minimum, but still) so yeah: friends. :)

Last time this happened I found Myself in that position march 2020 ...... I stocked up on 50 gallon barrels, next time oil goes negative 40 dollars I am accepting delivery!

I've seen a few articles on FB saying Porsche will try to open a factory in the US if this happens, with your typical retards decrying "no one will buy an American made Porsche" or "Now they'll be $300k!"

"They don't take our cars, they don't take our farm products, they take almost nothing and we take everything from them. Millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and farm products," he told journalists.
To be fair the US could have resolved this decades ago by producing quality goods worth buying and by offering "food" and farm products fit for human consumption.

He's following through with his threats to impose tarrifs. Hopefully this neans he's serious about getting rid of the income tax.

I dont care what happens in his presidency. He could hand the country over to Justin Trudeau and sell all of our and europes gold (we stole all of Europes gold after ww2 and we're just "holding" it for them) to China for all I care. but if Trump somehow manages to abolish the federal income tax, even if its only for a day, then he will become the greatest president in the history of America now and forever. Bested only by the president who abolishes the income tax permanently.

I dont care that he cant serve a 3rd term I will gladly join the MAGA militia and lay down my life to install him as permanent god-emporer of America if he abolishes the federal income tax.

I see at least some states raising their taxes to cover what the Fed is no longer taking, especially if they're a state that heavily relies on funding from the Fed. Then they'll add a nice cool 20% gratuity charge.

I'm convinced Americans are allergic to being happy and healthy.
Theyre not allergic to it, they are just, by nature, fat lazy and stupid. Or at least thats how Globohomo managed to genetically engineer boomers. These "Americans" youre talking about arent really human theyre no different than cattle.

You wouldnt call a cow fat lazy and stupid or say they're allergic to being happy and healthy would you? No you'd say "look at that poor cow, shame on your farmer for treating this poor defenseless animal this way, you dont deserve to be a farmer, we're going to take away your ability to be a farmer"

Unfortunately we still languish away under the idea that these "americans" are still people and are capable of solving their own problems and fixing the system that allows them to be fat lazy nigger cattle.

I can chose which state I want to live in, I cant choose not pay the federal income tax because no matter where I go in the world, they will still hunt me down and shoot me, regardless of if I am still a citizen or not.

Also you guys know you can just not tip right? The elites dont want you to know this, but I have over 4580 dollars at home of untipped tips at home right now sitting in my piggy bank.

I can tell you how U.S tarrifs are playing out right now in Canada.

Store orders goods. There’s a huge tarrif on them, so they up the price to compensate. Nobody buys it because it’s significantly more expensive, so next quarter they don’t reorder it and it’s no longer sold here. Nobody really cares all that much since there are cheaper alternatives here and the money goes to Canadian business instead. Some stores are hip to this and they’ve skipped over this entire process by simply not ordering the American goods from suppliers, day one of the tarrifs. Other businesses are buying from Canadian manufacturers to maintain their bottom line.

lf you’re curious as to what’s going to happen on tarrifed Canadian goods in your own country, that’s what’s going to happen. It’s basically going to kill trade for both of us and harm both of us.

It's going to be weird to see how that goes down in Texas since inexplicably the best selling liquor in the state is Canadian Crown Royal

Monsanto disagrees. You will eat the goyslop and be diabezic and you will like it!

Skimming the thread, all the Trump cocksuckers are incredibly annoying.

Don't get me wrong, economics is like trying to measure a sandstorm with a ruler. But everyone has collectively agreed wearing a suicide vest and saying "ill take Y'all with me" is bad politically, economically and socially. Harsh tariffs destroy both nations, the one doing them and the recipient of them. Look up the impact on the steel tariffs and imagine them nationwide.

It'll take DECADES to even make the equipment needed to increase primary resource production back to levels needed for self sufficiency. And you don't even want to do that. Primary resources like metals, wood, coal, oil etc are cheap because they are easier to extract then making something out of them.

Ask the Soviet Union how great life is being an economy relying on Primary resources... Can't seem to find them on a map. Weird. It's almost as if the majority of the value added to goods is at the final stages of production. So they went bankrupt despite having the biggest primary sector in the world.

It's also a trade off. The US has record low unemployment, and is kicking out immigrants. So who's going to be doing all the work needed in the coal mines? The federal staff that have been sacked will take millions of dollars to train, where's the investment in schooling?

You are literally shooting yourself in the foot then shooting the guy next to you in the chest. It isn't a win retard, you've got a hole in your foot and that guy gave you free money. (Look up how many companies in Canada are US owned. Same for mexico.)

The amount of damage tariffs do will offset the money raised by 10x at least. Tax cuts wont matter, because prices will rise higher than the cuts. Trumps done taxes but worse.

Or just cope about everything going up like eggs have gone up. I'm retarded, but I can use Google well enough to find out what red blooded capitalist economists are saying, they aren't happy.

Autarky on some level NEEDS to return to western states.State economies being wholly and utterly interconnected is not longterm viable as long as the BRICS autocratic states dont play by the same rules.Watching Russia get sanctioned up the ass and chug along like nothing happened via a combination of autarky and backroom deals has been noticed.Trump and various hard right institutions yet to achieve power in europe understand this.

We will be in for a rough decade.I again, reiterate that The Marshall Plan western world is not viable as long as the enemies are now dubbed "competitors" but dont play by the same rules.

If it's one thing we Britons have become incredibly experienced at over the years, ever since Suez, it's feigning obsequious subservience to the Yankees so we can avoid the consequences of whatever the fuck they're doing. That's how we dodged Vietnam, unlike the poor Aussies.

We literally consider you friendly enough that we share all of our nuclear tech with you, including the weapons. There are reasons for both sides to not rock that particular boat. Avoiding consequences might be part of it, but its a fact our defence industries are heavily integrated. IF tarrifs are applied, they will be short as negotiations take place and a agreement is hammered out like a week later.
