Really it takes time to undo decades worth of damage. Trump is going at breakneck speed and accomplishing a shitton already, but itll still take time. The slight increase in grocery store egg prices doesn't bother me as much because I know that some work has to be done to cleanse the hive of pests before getting to the good stuff.
Basic goods will go down in price with more US drilling, which makes gas cheaper, and therefore decreases costs of shipping. Thing is, it takes a while because new drilling permits need to be signed, people need to be hired, and pipelines need to be reopened. Trump isn’t going to use price controls to bring down prices of goods, because those have been shown time and time again to create shortages, since it gives no incentive to produce as much. Like with any change, it does take some time, and doing something like artificially lowering the price of eggs for a political W would cause long term shortages that can’t just be because of the bird flu.
Id feel more sympathetic if they weren’t waving another country’s flag. But then again they had plenty of time to get their affairs in order.
