The reasoning is apparently even more stupid than that. Television networks used to swap between red/blue to represent the incumbent and challenging party during presidential elections. It just so happened that Republicans were red in the 2000 election as the challenging party and then red again in 2004 as the incumbent party and essentially attached the color the Republican party because the 2000 election drug on for so long that it cemented the color scheme in people's brains. It's almost as stupid as how "right" and "left" were assigned to different political ideologies which goes back to the French Revolution and was based on which side of an assembly two different factions sat on. Millions of people bitch about the "far-right" only because some monarchists seated themselves on the right side of a hall over 200 years ago.

Don't forget that Red is also the color of communism. Which is why socialists are called Pinkos. "Too red to be white, too white to be red".

Very interesting, I figured Bukele and Trump would get along fairly well given that Bukele was one of the first leaders to call out the US government for harassing Trump after he was out of office.

I am claiming an I CALLED IT from 7 months ago in the previous USPG thread. Back when Trump said El Salvador was lowering their crime because their criminals were coming across the US border, and some people were trying to manufacture drama between him and Bukele:

In the actual speech, Trump sounded like he approved of Bukele, he just didn't like criminals fleeing his effective crackdown to infiltrate the weak US border. I don't think he'll start any beef, if he actually wins and secures the southern border, the problem goes away.

The guy gets along with Kim Jong Un, President Xi, Bibi, and any random rapper who wears his hat. I 100% expect the whole thing to be quashed with a single phone call, and they'll be best friends in the next photo op. Especially because Bukele wisely decided not to take offense and snap back over nothing.
