reddit General

Apparently this is the first time they've issued a temp ban on a sub rather than a permanent one. Usually warnings to a sub take the form of messages to the mods there and escalation beyond that is always a full ban.
I'm pretty sure it's a default/main page/however they do it now sub so they want to play with kids gloves.

Reddit has always shown clear favoritism towards certain subs that push the agenda and they probably had to issue a visible temp ban to get the feds off their backs or they wouldn't have done anything at all.

The whole death-threat thing sparked my interest.

How is something like "white people twitter" not an obvios racist hatesub due to Reddits own standards when they purged anything right of Jeb!?

I can see this making more waves because Redditors are retarded and forgot that the sitting President was almost assassinated last year.

"Reddit's own standards" dictate that racism against white people is fine, actually.

They erased that part after people started noticing, but I am sure the sentiment still remains.

Going to be interesting to see what Reddit does, especially after it seems the unhinged meltdowns and threats have caught the attention of the feds. If Reddit was smart all those power mods would be banned and sane people put in their place. Then again I think most people sane people have left Reddit long ago.
Yeah, I said this in another thread and I'll say it again. The community run sub deal is going to end.

Whitepeople twitter is now banned for 72 hours. https://archive.ph/JAKk5
There's also a redditsafety thread about this.
Edgy lefties are seething in the comments.

Anyways, let's go over the post itself:
Over the last few days, we’ve seen an increase in content in several communities that violate Reddit Rules. Reddit communities are places for civil discussion and are one of the few places online where people can exchange ideas and perspectives. We want to ensure that they continue to be a place for healthy debate no matter the topic. Debate and dissent are welcome on Reddit—threats and doxing are not.
When we identify communities experiencing an increase in rule-violating content, we are taking the following steps as needed:
  • Reaching out to moderators to ensure they have the support they need, including turning on safety tools, reminding mods of our rules, or offering additional moderation support
  • Adding a popup to remind users before visiting that subreddit of Reddit’s Rules
  • In some cases, placing a temporary ban on the community for 72 hours to enable us to engage with moderation teams and review and remove violating content
Currently r/WhitePeopleTwitter is under a temporary ban. This means that you will not be able to access this community during this cooling-off period while we work with the mods to ensure it is a safe place for discussion.
We will continue to monitor and reach out to communities experiencing a surge in violative content and will take the necessary actions noted above to ensure all communities can provide a safe environment for healthy conversation.

Top comment:
The threats of violence had gotten egregious and a cool-down period seems appropriate, but I'm really concerned about the doxxing claims - claims that are extremely troubling and illegitimate. Those seem to be coming from Elon Musk after his team of unvetted, non-employee engineers accessed critical Treasury systems and classified information. The "doxxing" was a number of legitimate news outlets reporting the violations and naming the members of that team.
Keeping their names under wraps is not only a violation of the spirit of the transparency laws surrounding governance, but probably also a violation of the letter of several laws. As soon as they entered a public building, accessed public information, and violated several federal statutes resulting in swift media reports of their behavior, they became public figures and exempt from the Reddit doxxing rules.
lol
A reply chain:
People are quite literally calling for assassinations.
Where does it end up when you have people saying that someone should pay the DOGE team a visit at their homes? Are they just saying someone should stop by and say hello? Yeah, I don't think so.
Exactly. Users on here have been radicalized. They're actively calling for murder and cheering it on.
The second comment is downvoted. Lol.

From a user named The_Rolling_Stone:
Caving to Elon is a bitch move, and totally unsurprising from this platform
A reply chain:
Caving to Elon is when temp banning a sub because it’s members can’t be normal and not issue death threats en mass lmao
The_Rolling_Stone:
Right right because Reddit has been super eager to remove hate and extremism in the past
When you posted the comment:
Elon needs to get fucking Luigi'd ASAP

What exactly did you mean by that and why did you think it wise to come to r/RedditSafety right after?
Sure enough, if you check The_Rolling_stone's profile, that comment is gone, with the

Ruh-roh!

It's an entertaining thread, to say the list. Archive link coming soon. EDIT: Here

Thread was deleted. These redditors have become too comfy fedposting since they're mad this shit is getting deleted

This account has been deleted and posted on the r/FAFSA sub.

There's also a redditsafety thread about this.

From that thread. They lack the ability to think critically.

Found this on r/all.

In their frenzy to 'bash the fash' now Trump is in the White House, 21,400 redditors upvote the 4chan-favourite video of some Antifa dude getting knocked the fuck out by a Proud Boy at the End Domestic Terrorism Rally in Oregon, 2019.

Surprisingly the comments are almost exclusively applauding OP for deceiving the Reddit trannies, so I'm really not sure what to think here.
It always warms my heart when enough redditors are so sick of the narrative that even they turn. The antifa LARPers and their cheerleaders on that site have been insufferable for decades. Great to see at least normie reddit has had enough.

I don't envy Spez right now.

He either has to clamp down and lose his entire user base of insane Communists or stay the course and potentially face fines or legal action due to his user base of insane Communists.

A very unfortunate lose lose scenario.
Spaz when he's worried the FBI will investigate his website for fedposting, but then remembers the feds are a majority of posters on his website.

His own damn fault.
Reddit didn't have to become an echochamber of self-radicalizing leftists.
They didn't have to kick out everyone right of Lenin and ban conservative subs.
If you were of the right stripe, you had Card-blank permission to be a fedposting lunatic.

I think that a sizeable amount of users is getting a knock, and Reddit will either enforce or get 230 stripped.

Another screencap for posterity. FYI a bunch of these accounts are still up and they're wild as most of them voluntarily give out their own personal info over the lifetime of their account, which I'm sure makes law enforcement's job a hell of a lot easier. For example, notzacraw is a 71 year old boomer that basically tells his entire life story in his comment history. Why do they do this?
Did you seriously use fucking Wayback Machine? You know they censor that right?

Nah, the fucker deserves it for letting his pet mods turn this site into a radicalization hub.

At the bare minimum he should've kept the mods on a tight leash but the douchebag didn't want to risk rocking the boat with his source of free labor, or he agreed with what was being posted on here until the feds came knocking on his door.

I sincerely hope the DoJ doesn't back down after seeing this performative act of course correcting that will more than likely go back to business as usual after about a week. This site has been in need of a reckoning for a very long time and it still chaps my ass that THIS had to be what swallowed up nearly every other internet forum.
:optimistic: I know..

Spez should have seen this coming the moment he saw all his powermods deciding that Twitter/X needed to be banned of the site. It signals to his entire userbase that radical rhetoric works. Spez also had a monetary incentive to not ban twitter posts because twitter reposts are probably a significant portion of reddit content. I expect the pendulum to swing the other way pretty soon if the other subs react negatively to r/whitepeopletwitter's ban.

Its shocking how unaccustomed a lot of these people are to actually being out of power. The online right learned how to not fed post a decade ago; more so, the only way that the Trump admin could do a facsistic crack down is if these Redditors get what their blood. Its like a self fulfilling prophesy, do these jabronis understand that?

He deserves it for what happened with Aaron. Even before the whole MIT incident, they had him puking in a bathroom for how they were acting. He didn't listen and now he's here. He's rich as shit, too, don't give him your pity.
