Obviously it benefits Israel to an extent but it doesn't get Netanyahu the kind of crushing win he wanted in Gaza. America having to step in so drastically makes
Israel look weak, and Netanyahu by extension. It's still a terrible idea for us and I hope it's a bluff.
By the way, all the Jew sperging misses the point. This would be a bad idea if he suggested occupying the Balkans too. Or Syria, or Ukraine, or Taiwan, or any other decades-long contested territory. Picking Gaza for his first foray into Hotel-Based Military Diplomacy (HBMD) could be because he likes Jews... or it could be because the major antagonist in the area happens to be a national ally, like them or not. Trump has the personality and ego that thinks HBMD is a great idea, no Jewish son-in-law needed.
