But I agree, a lot of his videos the last few years did seem like they were just "hey don't forget me!" placeholders, and legit made just to fulfil sponsorship contracts. Even his last several Halloween specials weren't much to remember.

I have exactly 2 problems with Jon that keep me from being a fan.

1- He's lazy as fuck and it shows in his upload schedule and lack of effort that has been present for ages.

2- He went from treating his fans like fans to treating his fans like his own personal paypigs with the way he only uploads videos when he wants to buy something or has bills to pay these days and nearly all of them suck. That's why his videos have been lacking, he knows he doesn't have to try to get enough views to get paid anymore thanks to parasocial simps.

It's all widely known and plain to see I have no idea why some people refuse to accept the reality that content creators they personally like aren't infallible and immune to criticism.

I hate that insufferable two faced shit bag arin as much as the next guy but he DID make some entertaining content before he decided to absolutely destroy his own image and reputation and alienate himself from literally everyone who helped him get where he is by being a complete two faced soylent piece of shit for absolutely no reason. Pre and post adpocalypse Arin are two completely different people and it's as weird as it is stupid and self destructive but it doesn't change the fact that jon is definitely lazy.

And besides gamegrumps has been around for like over a decade now and there's probably over 20.000 episodes of it and some series on longer games back in the day when lets play videos were like 10-15 minutes long had dozens of episodes so yeah I can definitely see burnout being a thing there but jon doesn't really have that excuse because his channel is structured to basically allow whatever he wants to succeed, he just chose to keep copying the flextape video formula. I'm not here to play devils advocate i'm just saying I don't like how Jon went from talking about how much he loves his fans to only uploading half assed content when he wants money from his audience and in my opinion that is no different from spitting in their face and that's why I unsubbed. His channel structure would be classified as something like "multi-media" rather than lets plays or artist/animator and the like, youtube channels are set up like that so yeah, he can make nearly anything he wants and it won't be lost in the algorithm as long as it doesn't diverge too far from "person talking about things" which is his usual schtick. And there's nothing wrong with capitalizing on success the issue comes from copying the same video dozens of times and not putting nearly as much effort into the video you're copying, That's just annoying and it makes you look like you think your fans are stupid and won't notice your lack of effort and innovation.
