You figure it'll take 3 or 4 months (very optimistic number for some fields) to find a new job and start working there, maybe 2 if you're very lucky, so that's already a big chunk of that payout gone, and you should be prepared for an even worse case scenario to be safe. Then you no longer have your employer health insurance in that time which can be a lot more depending on your circumstances. And if you're older or have a family you probably don't want to have to move, you figure if you live in D.C. than a good chunk of the opportunities around you are other government jobs, and some of the other shit like people who work on military bases is in the middle of nowhere. Then the way a pension works really incentivizes you to stay at your job especially if you got promoted recently. Then you have to keep in mind that all this shit elon is doing is going to go through legal battles anyway so there's more uncertainty in what is going on.

It's just out of touch nouveau riche tech skiddie thinking. Broccoli boy who is isn't thinking about finances or retirement or any shit like that, he's thinking "oh sweet, if I left X my dad could just arrange for a satanic pedophile at Meta to rape me next week (I'll enjoy it) and I'll be hired on the spot and bag the $80k, that's the doordash budget covered for the year"

Elon Musk's extreme hypocrisy and his severely autistic bootlickers are the reasons why why Elon Musk is my most disliked person. Especially when he is arrogant enough to have stronghold over the US treasury and people's social security numbers. Even on Kiwi Farms, these Musk defenders who throw trashcans at me are as dumb as a flat earther (or an SJW who sends death threats to Elon Musk (Ironic of me to say this despite my contempt for him)) and I hate how they harass the Kiwi Farms administration to have entire threads and boards to themselves and feel entitled to bully people who disagree with Elon Musk (as well as Donald Trump). This goes against true freedom of speech. To support freedom of speech requires the ability to accept hearing from opposing views which Elon fails tremendously at that.

10k people even at $250k each is $2.5 billion, which is absolutely nothing compared to government spending. And I guarantee you those workers weren't getting $250k each

Instead he's going to get a tax cut which will add $800 billion a year to the deficit and raise taxes on lower class folks like Trump's last tax cut

I also want to again express my second hand embarassement and disgust at all these "patriots" and "individualists" and "rebels" becoming comformant corporate bootlickers overnight (because social media controlled by these very corporates told them to). You are cattle and you are going to be treated like cattle.
