Piracy General

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Sorry if this gets asked a lot, where should I get old PS1 roms? Is the r/piracy megathread good?

It's basically the continuation of CDromance. And as such, not only has the roms and isos, it has the patched roms and isos for hacks, undubs, translations, etc.

I think it needs you to register, tho. But you're here, you should know how to use a throwaway.

I don't know if this has been posted in here before (And I'm too lazy to check if things like it have been condemned in this thread for any reason so...sorry) but this site has helped me discover many useful tools and stuff for free. I really recommend going through this and bookmarking it. It's one of the best directories for free shit I've ever seen.

https://fmhy.net/

I also see a lot of people still encountering ads on sites even with ad-blockers like uBlock Origin so I recommend using these filters along with check marking everything on uBo's main filter lists page. I don't see ads at all using this.

I also use r/piratedgames mega thread for the longest time for Video Game piracy. Use your own gut, judgement, and common sense if something seems sketchy to you. I personally use Ovagames, GOG Games, Gnarly Repacks for older PC games or games other sites don't have, and CrocDB for roms.

TorrentFreak: Telegram ‘Suspends RuTracker’s Channel’ For Copyright Infringement (archive)
Following the surprise arrest of founder Pavel Durov in France last year, Telegram's suddenly improved attitude towards content complaints was unexpected, and appears to be holding. After channels operated by Z-Library and Anna's Archive were shut down recently, Russian media outlets are reporting the suspension of a channel operated by RuTracker, one of the most resilient torrent trackers in history.

Was hoping to find some resources for textbooks, but the only one I hadn't heard o (b-ok) is shut down. Searched the thread for the one I use now and was surprised Anna's Archive wasn't in here.
It's been mentioned a few times in the past:

-Please note this post is for venting, not for asking for the thing I'm talking about-

For fanediting purposes, I'm looking for a specific version of a famous movie, one that has made up languages and scenes with those languages have translation captions. I need specifically a version ripped from iTunes or Amazon Prime, because those don't have the captions burned into the video itself (judging from comments from people complaining about the captions not appearing even when they've set up the subtitles correctly, this seems to be a fuckup rather than a feature, but one that's convenient to me). Bluray versions all have it burned.

But I can't find it! It's nowhere, or it's too low res (managed to get a like 480p or less version), or the torrents are all dead or full of leechers with incomplete files. Had to trawl through Russian and Chinese torrent sites to find them, and they don't even work. Worst thing? One torrent permanently stopped at 34.3%, but that was enough for me to be able to open the video file at certain scenes and confirm that's the version I need.

Fuck.

I suppose I could get like a trial account/pay for one month on Prime and check the movie and screen-record the scenes I need, but that would be dishonorable.

Cool thing about that site is that you can just copy the download link into a separate browser and it’ll download.

Any word on when ExYuSubs will open/last opened their registration? The need to pirate runs deep in all Balkanbros but nobody seeds for shit on public trackers (go figure).

New to this thread.

But is there any websites that allow you to publish torrents without having to create a account?
maybe on the onion network?

it might be a bad idea, because of what the people heavily invested in not getting caught would want to upload. just go to the pirate bay and use a random name generator for your username

if piracy is theft, censorship is authorship.
There is going to be more Piracy in terms of movies, due to Sony (who owns the Blueray format) will be shutting down its production offices.

I think if companies can take away our rights to own / preserve the content that we like, then we can take away their rights to get money from us.

The companies have no authority to do that.
Who actually violates your rights is the government.
The government is the one who enforces "intellectual property rights" such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
All of these things are very clear and obvious violations and infringements of your rights to your property.
For instance, if I have the right to subject you to a fee or use violence against you from stopping you from singing my song, then I as an "intellectual property owner" have (at least partially) expropriated your vocal cords, your brain, your throat, since you are using nothing but your own property in order to sing.

That & companies because they chose to end physical media and take away the content we like off our libraries whenever we use their platforms.

To be more precise:
You pay for the physical media, under the stipulation that the physical media contains the content that is being advertised.
You own the physical media, because it is a scarce good, but not the content on it, because that is not a scarce good.
You can reproduce, copy, etc.pp. that content infinitely because it is not scarce. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V. You can do that with a movie file, but not with a car. There can be conflicts in the use of a car, there cannot be conflicts on the "use" of a movie file. Therefore, property rights in cars are good, property rights in movie files are bad.

Digital services are essentially you paying for infrastructure. Paying for the right to open a connection to someone's server to transmit data. Paying for the service of them maintaining a database with your account info and purchases.
There is no such thing as ownership of the servers or ownership of the content being transferred. The servers remain theirs, the content is not scarce.

I understand that this distinction and precision may seem autistic to people who don't deal with economics or ethics, but it is fundamental in understanding what precisely is going on and how it should be dealt with.

Annas Archive often has terrible scans of Archive.org stuff (the "quick and dirty variant", not full scans, mangles photos), but that Internet Archive Downloader plugin no longer seems to work, says "File download was blocked, please contact the developer".

Dang.

I've used the internet archive CLI tool which seems to work well. Logging into it lets me download stuff that was previously blocked

Soyny and the likes have abused customers and their consumer rights for so long that it should be actively encouraged to take away their rights to people’s money.

And if they go out of business for it, then so be it. They’ll just sell everything in bankruptcy.
