Chris can't empathize with others well. Remember Kacey lost her grandma on 9/11 and Chris associated that loss with the loss of his dog and his aunt from natural causes. ANYONE that was 'normal' that heard that someone lost a loved one in horrific way would have said "Oh that's horrible. I can't even imagine having that happen". Maybe they would mention that they lost loved ones in the past, but they most definitely would have disclaimer-ed with something like "I don't know exactly how you feel, but I can emphasize losing a loved one". But not Chris, his response is, "Oh, you've lost your grandma? Well I'VE lost my dog, my aunt, AND my girlfriends... even though the girlfriends turned out to be fake. So I've lost more people I 'loved' than you so pity me more".
