She rationalizes that the only reason trannies get misgendered in the workplace is because their co-workers knew them pre-mutilation, because they all pass so well that there's just no other way anyone could possibly know. I can't find a clip of it but the transwomen character Kyla passes at first, when they film "her" in a lot of wide shots with quicker cuts, but then there's a scene where the camera zooms in on "her" mouth, throat and chin and pans slowly as the other character discovers that Kyla is a man.
The show is like 13 years old though, so it definitely has a more "old school" approach to trans characters than stuff made after 2015 (the trans is beautiful/cool/amazing era) or now (the holy shit they did what to kids/sports/prisons?!? era)

Lol and the actor who played Kyla is Jamie Clayton who is probably one of the most passing trannies out there. And still is immensely clockable. He's also the lead in the Wachowski Things' "Sense8" (which I maintain could have been a good show until one of the "sisters" fucked off and the other Wachowski decided to make the show nothing but a series of orgy scenes).

It's definitely true that some trannies can pass, but this is invariably and strictly under very specific circumstances (read: still photographs that are heavily doctored and filtered and usually taken professionally, utilizing flattering camera angles and lighting). Some troons can absolutely pass as female under said conditions, but the same thing could be said of just about any man you can think of.

When you meet a troon face-to-face (even the ostensibly best 'passing' one on the planet), there will always be something that tips you off. It could be their voice, their gait, their posture, their body language, the size of their hands- there will always be something that the lizard brain picks up on. This is something that trannies will apparently never understand and it's just like that copypasta says- we have evolved over millennia to determine whether the person we are looking at is male or female with remarkable accuracy.

All they have on their side is fake shit and filters. Take all of that away and not a single one of them passes.

I find that funny since several of Richard Strauss's operas had women playing "pants roles," or women playing men. (This was not an uncommon thing for operas. Women could play youthful-looking boys with high voices.) He loved the female voice so he featured it heavily in for instance Der Rosenkavalier, which has three women as the leads. Funnily enough, the character Octavian (who is played by a woman) has to crossdress as a woman (pretending to be a handmaiden) a couple of times so that he doesn't get caught having an affair with the Marschallin.

The real question is what haven't they done. Spaces for vulnerable outcasts are unusable because these people are talked into ruining their lives with surgeries and hormones. And those are just the ones who admit it and who aren't "lost to follow up" or in denial. Gender treatment is pseudoscientific and dangerous and there's too much evidence to hide it anymore.

It's an inherent part of humans to notice. You know that meme about how humans have grown a innate ability to spot imposters due to rivalry with neanderthals? It's like that. Once working at a retail store I encountered a 'FtM'. Looked exactly like an Asian guy who was balding. 100% looked like a guy. I said "Sir this self checkout is open now" and the way she looked at me. The blushing and eyes down but looking at me. The slight smile. I instantly knew it was a woman. The body language was so incredibly feminine. They can look like a man or woman as much as they want, the body language betrays them if nothing else. And once it does you start to notice everything else. Most don't even get that far, you can tell immediately just by proportions.
