The Judge saying "If has has no witnesses and no evidence then it's likely the case would be dismissed."

Is someone telegraphing how this case is going to end?

Judge is taking the benevolent “this baby’s first sanction” approach, assuming incorrectly that Russ learns from mistakes and setbacks like regular humans. Sanctions are intended to correct errant behavior, a concept that is alien to Russ.

I hope Russ still throws a gimp fit, as maybe then the judge will realize he’s not dealing with a garden variety lead paint licker.

Not placing any bets though.

This suggests to me that the District Judge will not be so lenient with the second sanction the Magistrate imposed, which while a lesser one, is at least some good progress.
We all know that In 10 years, when the trial is finally scheduled, Greer will try to call a witness anyway. When blocked, he will whine that he already paid the (three times reduced) $50 of sanctions, therefore he shouldn't be held to the other penalties either, cause it's all even now!

I might just be too much of a legal layman but is it possible that this retard will just file in another district. (regardless of if he'd be allowed to or not)
I am unironically considering threadbanning you for this. Articulate your fucking question before posting it. I can't answer your half formed thoughts

I think the district judge is right that the stipulation to exclude the witnesses has the net effect of dismissing the case if the magistrate judge ever gets around to actually handling this case, and that is most of the remedy which is considered best by the court. Null either wins on the merits since there's no case from Greer, or it is dismissed with prejudice at the end of this farce. The court isn't going to view Greer with a lot of disgust or a desire to make him stop being an expensive nuisance.

No matter what costs were awarded, it is obvious that Greer will not pay. At a certain point, can the judgment debt be sold to a collections agency, where it will accrue interest and just haunt him forever? Does interest accrue on the debt if it is held by Hardin or Null? Is the debt owed specifically to Hardin or to Null?

He can probably find a payday loan place to give him that, even after he got sued by another one. Actually, do payday loan places take Lyft payments as proof of income?
Yes, they absolutely do if Rusty can provide any sort of proof of income. Now whether or not they will due to his assuredly horrible financial history is another story. Payday loan centers are very lenient, but not typically completely retarded.

It's not what Hardin asked for, but it's something. $1,000 is a lot for a homeless hobgoblin.
Just wait until you see the tens of thousands of dollars Greer's motion for sanctions against Hardin will net him, after explaining how Hardin violated the SPO!

Yes, I know. I know. I read it too. But you know what's coming. Right before Greer's motion to pause payments until his own sanctions are ruled on.

Good thing I checked the thread before posting this myself. I'm also wondering this, considering that the judge acknowledges that Greer has no witnesses in the very next paragraph. I genuinely don't understand how this case could possibly proceed with no witnesses. Even if Greer's "evidence" isn't excluded, with no witnesses to testify how Greer's copyright has been infringed I just don't see how a finding of fact could possibly be made.
