In many ways, it is. It indicates a high living standard, where people don't need an entire football team of kids to do child labor on the farm or in shitty factories in the city. But it doesn't benefit the current system we have set up. Corporations need good little slaves to make them richer, the elderly need to be nursed, and they need us paying into a system that won't benefit us. If they want us to breed, they need to talk about how rent and mortgages are out of control. Women aren't having kids because it's fucking expensive as fuck to do so (and because moids are more mask-off than ever, it seems). And while your average "rules for thee but not for me" religious nut may worship people living in poverty while taking those peoples donations, the rest of us don't. Higher living standards should mean that across the board, instead of how it is now, where it's great for the ones at the top, while the rest of us struggle. There have been great advances in nuclear energy where even nuclear waste can be recycled. The discovery of a fungus that helps break down radioactive waste is also a boon, and they've considered testing it for cosmic radiation. It'd be helpful for off -world colonization, if we get there.

Funny thing about all this kvetching about birth rates: one book, the People of Paris by Daniel Roche, has tables of the average birth rates of women in Paris and other regions. They were 1.5-1.7 on average. Same as today. Birth rates during the Irish famine were the same. This has absolutely happened before, and most women didn't even LIVE to pop out eight kids let alone 20. Those were often impoverished farm women. The average was 3-4 kids, same as married women today. With all the modern amenities.

Oh, and birth rates were around 1.5 children per woman after the Black Death. Fewer women than men died from it, and the surplus led to changes in labour division. More women were working and making money; this carried over into the Renaissance.

As for overpopulation...we know India is a problem. China went so overboard with their population control they are looking at a population collapse because of all the girls they aborted. India? Fucking hell. Even rats have more self restraint.

Interestingly, the plague and black death had some fantastic results for the proles. All those deaths meant labour was now a valuable and limited resource workers had to offer so wages increased and jobs were aplenty, food costs were greatly reduced, and land values plummeted. It was quite shit for business owners and land owners, and obviously not at all good if you were one of the dead, but for everyone else, it was in many respects in incredible economic equaliser.
It likely brought an end to feudalism, and the start to humanism.

Last night I witnessed a domestic abuse issue on the street, the woman locked her boyfriend out of the house after this and he proceeded to kick in one of the bottom panels and climb through; breaking into the house. I made a report and statement to the police, and they informed me while making the statement that the woman doesn't want to go any further with it, doesn't want to make any complaint against the guy and was actually saying that he's done nothing wrong when he was getting arrested.

My heart absolutely breaks for this woman, knowing that because she won't help with the report against her boyfriend he will be out by tonight and straight back to abusing her is so upsetting. The fact that she's been so broken down by him that she feels the need to protect him from the police is just heartbreaking.
I am praying that this kind of thing doesn't happen again and she can finally wake up and get out as soon as possible.

Sorry to PL but it's the first time in a while that I've seen this kind of thing and it just messed with me and I needed to get it out without some asshole complaining about it being the woman's fault or something.
