Speculate and share your thoughts on The Forever Winter - Fun Dog Studio's upcoming four player, sci-fi, tactical, survival, horror shooter. You're not an augmented killing machine, you're an insignificant puny human.
Didn't even know this, but this game was originally an NFT title, was partnered by with Gala Games (crypto/metaverse/whatever company who makes and sells NFTs, The Forever Winter onces sold for like $20,000) at one point apparently. Then when the game was getting traction they ditched all the NFT stuff, probably getting their money and dipping like Stalker 2 did (or rather failed to do). Another thing, I wonder how this game was even funded by a company with no history and barely anyone noteworthy, and so did other people. I also wonder what the budget even was because uh...I doubt they got their money back.
They really a full revamp of it, with the latest update they added ways to automate water collection once you're high level enough but it's more of the same: leaving in a mechanic while dimishing its importance.

Biggest issues are balancing I think, also making the game more fun. It's very easy to exploit the map and remove the fun/challenge.
I've seen a video on one of the enemies being unable to do anything to you if you're on a higher elevation it can't reach. A really poorly designed enemy all around from what I've read. One hits, fast as fuck, invincible, full map awareness, might possibly always know where you are, and probably more shit I don't remember. Adding on to the water thing, I also heard they added "water thieves" that steal your water anyway...who the fuck thought that was a good idea? Oh and general performance issues.
Despite how many things are in bad shape, I honestly have good hopes for the studio. It's clear they started more as idea guys and not necessarily with the gameplay design as the core, but for a team of like 30 people, they're doing stuff on par with teams of hundreds of people. Hopefully they'll carry the lessons into their next game. But yeah, in the meantime I'll just wait until proper release to pick the game back up.
I like the setting because it reminds me of what a lot of planets were probably like during the Old Night in 40k. That and Europa hits a little too close to home with it being a formerly rich and prosperous superpower that lost the ability to take care of its own people.

I honestly would rather have a MA.K power armor mech game than an extraction shooter, but this is a step in the right direction i guess
You, me, and anyone else who isn't hopeless addicted to extraction shooter. Seriously all those sick concepts and you're stuck as the most boring of them all.
you know, if i was behind this game, it would be survival crafting, or cursed runes as mandalore said. There would be player, BUT npc civilians, mostly children, and you need to keep them alive with food, clothing, and shelter, and sometimes if the war get's too heavy in a part of the city you have to evacuate the civilians out of that part and somewhere else, or make the bomb shelters safer
