Obsidian has made good games, their issue is that they made New Vegas and now they're stuck having to cater to retards that want them to make New Vegas 2, it's why they made Outer Worlds, it's why they're doing Outer Worlds 2 and transitioned a CRPG franchise like Pillars to being Fantasy Outer Worlds because Pillars 2 flopped so badly, Tyranny and Pentiment (which imo are good but flawed) didn't do well either so naturally all roads lead back to more Lidl Skyrim slop.

Outer Worlds was made by Tim Cain, who had nothing to do with New Vegas. I believe he wanted to make a new unique IP similar to Fallout, a spiritual successor if you will, but not a sequel to New Vegas in any way. This was just a dumb marketing gimmick from Obsidian that did more damage than good in the end.

Care to link some? Could be them reading from the same shill script, like the classic "I don't understand the hate, I'm having a blast" that was prevalent during Forspoken/Concord/Suicide Squad.

Don't forget "Return to form for Bioware" for Veliguard or "You are not a real gamer if you think this game is woke" for Kingdom Come 2. It is painfully obvious when shills share the same script nowdays.

What the hell is a "godlike hair" or "godlike facial features?" Some joke perk like bloody mess or what have you from Fallout? What does it do, give you Hot Squidward hair/facial structure? Lots of sparkles whenever your hair/face is on screen?

Part of the game's setting apparently: The game gives you really ugly physical features(that NPCs point out and are disgusted by) but in turn you're more powerful. You can turn off the physical features so that your character looks normal(NPCs still comment on how ugly you are), some games have a helmet toggle so you can admire your barbie doll while also giving it proper armor at the same time. This is a similar kind of feature.

I am watching Patrician's(unlisted) stream. The game is about what I expected, I do like the game from the actual gameplay perspective. Writing, player choice, everything else you would expect from Obsidian seems to be lagging or downright missing, like the ability to kill town NPCs. I wouldn't be surprised if we regressed to having essential unkillable NPCs as well like in Elder Scrolls, Fallout or Kingdom Come. This might be worth a pirate for me, but I seriously doubt it will actually sell all that well. Avowed genuinely has nothing going for it unless you really like how Outer Worlds plays or unless you really want another Pillars game, or unless you really badly need another Baldur's Gate 3 like game, which seems that every new fantasy RPG going forward is going to rip off now.

iirc it has to do with lore - godlike are people "blessed" by respective gods, and sometimes it means they're horrifically deformed - including the protagonist, who should have fungi/bark on his/her face. Since the game is at least partially aimed at the fujos and AWFLs, it has to have an option to make an attractive character to appeal to vain crowd.

I seriously hope this game gets some game show awards and KCD2 doesn't. You just know the kind of people who vote on these things would rather vote for Obsidian slop than the chud medieval game. All this selling out and Warhorse won't even get the seat at the table, would be hilarious.

Correct, this is one of the few features that anyone who played it universally praises. It is a disappointment they didn't go this route with Avowed.
Speaking of what this game lacks compared to Outer Worlds...

This game runs and looks awful. I have a pretty old rig and Outer Worlds runs perfectly on high settings. I doubt this game will even run on my computer.

Mutants that got cursed to look like the wacky gods of the setting. If you are godliked to the fire god, you get flames for hair or some other shit like that.

They are supposed to be ugly as sin, so the Fujos do need that button. Do they only allow you to choose the mutant race? You can't even be a fishnog?

Edit : Yes, you can only be a human and elf. You may need to be a mutant too.

Should I try to check this out and see just how bad is it? With a peg leg. They went from huge selection of races to just 2. Kek, because they wanted first person only and didn't want to code it in for dwarves.

Like what? Genuinely I’m asking. I’ve never once thought to myself that any of their games had good writing.

New Vegas is a well-written and realized setting, KOTOR2 serves as a decent deconstruction of the Star Wars setting and metaphysics without being the modern turbo gay and stupid version of the term, Alpha Protocol is a fun spy romp.

Keep in mind that 'good for video games' is the metric I'm working with here and not novels or films that have different things to consider and resources to work with.

I'm not really interested in continuing to argue this because you'll just go "Err no those are myactually BAD!" But those are the examples I'd cite.

Tyranny and Pentiment (which imo are good but flawed)

Tyranny has a compelling premise but a DOGSHIT ending that they had to sort of soft patch in later and they will never make a sequel to it because they're gay and retarded. The Tyranny setting would have probably been better for a Skyrim-like anyway.

This dude hated The Outer Worlds(altho I don't necessarily agree with his video, Salt Factory one was better done), I sense another video essay in the works.

He said he's gonna make a short one, probably just a review so I wouldn't expect it to exceed an hour. Probably will come out before the FO video. He deleted the vod tho; I think he got skeeved that people were rightfully dismissing the game as woke trash instead of agreeing with his gripes about performance. The game was running like absolute ass so I get it but he really only played like ten minutes worth of content after finishing the tutorial.

I already pay my 11 bucks for xbox live to satan to play my cozy flight sim games. But after reading this thread i appreciate the point. I liked PoE1 and 2 and i will play Awoved. Will i like it, don't know, i'll try to have fun with it and enjoy it, will i endorse it. No i will never endorse anything. I can bypass and ignore many woke things in a a game when they do not hit me in the head with it. This culture war to the extreme (from both sides) has ruined my escapism. I do not care if some random assholes hate, want me and my kids dead. They can want that all day, but they cannot kill me or harm my loved ones.
