Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

Even legends like Steins;Gate 14 years ago had CGI abominations in every outdoor shot...
Steins;Gate looks absolutely golden compared to almost anything made nowadays. It's really sad because you look at that and a lot of other top shows of the early 10s which were produced during the recession and you wonder why everything just went downhill from there. I swear, the mid-10 is the cutoff point for when the average quality just started dropping and today it's abysmal. So much gets made nowadays that 10-15 years ago would be on the level of the Quality Cabbage and that van, yet nobody bats an eye. Even the movies aren't good, like the Rebuild of Evangelion movies are the decline of the industry in a nutshell since the first two look awesome like how a modern anime movie should and the last two are overblown CGI fests (and the third in particular is like Virtual Boy-level shit).

I know part of the problem is they make too much shit. There's more seasonal anime than ever, so all the resources are being spread thinner and thinner as they go adapt yet another shitty isekai power fantasy webnovel.
When this bubble pops, nobody will care enough to make it strong again, and all that will be left of anime are popular family shows like Doraemon and Sazae-san (which may go the way of the dodo as well thanks to the Fuji TV sexual harassment coverup scandal), hentai/extreme ecchi, a handful of shonen adaptations, and maybe a random moeblob/romance show.
That just sounds like today but with less isekai. There's like maybe 1 show a season worth watching. If I watch more than that, inevitably I stumble on utter garbage. So who even cares?

I wish they made more moe anime. Feels like there aren't as many now as there were a decade ago when there was like a moe show every season. And some of them like Yuru Camp S3 have the low quality/lazy animation problem that infests everything now.

Still one of the sickest panels I have ever seen.

Which one did you prefer ? I am not a big fan myself but would say the manga is better, the movie cuts out a good chuck of the source material.
So, having watched the movie years ago, I did remember it being "quite short" in terms of story and characters. Seeing how the manga has like 6 giant volumes, I already imagined that the plot would veer off in a different way.

I think I prefer the manga, but as I read a comment from another user somewhere else, the anime isn't a direct adaptation of the manga, and could be considered a thing on its own.

The Colonel though, he's the best character.

Also I found out just the other day after finishing the manga, the anime came out in 1988, whereas the manga publication ended in 1990, so Otomo didn't finish the manga at the time of the movie release.

I'm almost halfway through Golden Wind now, and I have to say, Fighting Gold is definitely in the running for best opening theme for me, about tied with Stand Proud from Part 3's first half.
JoJo is a series with one of the best openings I've ever heard in anime (yeah I like Chase too) I would put Fighting Gold and Stand Proud in my top 3 alongside Bloody Stream, because I'm basic. I have just realized that it's going to be 10 years in few months since I watched JoJo for the first time. Come on David, announce Steel Ball Run. I'm going to be very normal about it.

Despite my obsession with anime, I've only finished a handful of titles. Also because I was learning Japanese for over a year now, I listen carefully while syntaxing with the subtitles to reinforce the vocabulary I recently learned. Like what I have doing watching Shiki recently.

Man, I can remember when it was assumed Jojo would never get animated beyond the OVA and Phantom Blood movie.

So niggers, is Fairy Tail as bad or cringe as I've heard it to be? I know nothing will ever compare to One Peak for me, but is there anything good about this obvious Break Piece knockoff?

It and fun characters and the ost is amazing. While it does have some outstanding arcs the overall story is nothing to right home about, but you enjoyment of the show will mostly hinge on how much you like the cast.
Fights aren't particularly amazing and most will boil down to the hero losing, power of friendship talk, and then winning afterwards.

The one thing Fairy Tail does better than One Piece is that manages to handle is both the main cast and supporting cast all the way from the beginning of the series to even the sequel manage to stay relevant and active in the story.

It's best to view Fairy Tail as a fun, but kind of brainless series that still had heart poured into it.

I still can remember all the Straw Hats, even Jimbei and Brook, does the Coward trio have to fucking fight Imu himself for people to still acknowledge their obvious relevance? Plus, certain characters look really faggy in Fairy Tail.

I'm more so talking about how you aren't going to go several years for say Robin to get a fight or characters not to even make a background appearance. I love One Piece, but I'm not going to say it's perfect.
If you want a grand narrative like One Piece I wouldn't bother.
