Steins;Gate looks absolutely golden compared to almost anything made nowadays. It's really sad because you look at that and a lot of other top shows of the early 10s which were produced during the recession and you wonder why everything just went downhill from there. I swear, the mid-10 is the cutoff point for when the average quality just started dropping and today it's abysmal. So much gets made nowadays that 10-15 years ago would be on the level of the Quality Cabbage and that van, yet nobody bats an eye. Even the movies aren't good, like the Rebuild of Evangelion movies are the decline of the industry in a nutshell since the first two look awesome like how a modern anime movie should and the last two are overblown CGI fests (and the third in particular is like Virtual Boy-level shit).Even legends like Steins;Gate 14 years ago had CGI abominations in every outdoor shot...
I know part of the problem is they make too much shit. There's more seasonal anime than ever, so all the resources are being spread thinner and thinner as they go adapt yet another shitty isekai power fantasy webnovel.
That just sounds like today but with less isekai. There's like maybe 1 show a season worth watching. If I watch more than that, inevitably I stumble on utter garbage. So who even cares? When this bubble pops, nobody will care enough to make it strong again, and all that will be left of anime are popular family shows like Doraemon and Sazae-san (which may go the way of the dodo as well thanks to the Fuji TV sexual harassment coverup scandal), hentai/extreme ecchi, a handful of shonen adaptations, and maybe a random moeblob/romance show.
I wish they made more moe anime. Feels like there aren't as many now as there were a decade ago when there was like a moe show every season. And some of them like Yuru Camp S3 have the low quality/lazy animation problem that infests everything now.
