Of all the shit I give Ultrakill and its community, at least we have these animations.
Guy just runs away with the lore and does whatever but he has been noticeably improving.

Why not use BASIC for "retro"?
BASIC is SOVLful but the best BASIC engines are all old and unoptimized. Brigand: Oaxaca is an immersive sim made in DarkBASIC, which is an engine essentially untouched since about 2008, so the dev has to spend a shit ton of time tard wrangling the engine to work on modern systems.
Troon devs aren't gonna put in the extra effort to work with retro software when they can get retro aesthetics in Godot, Unity, etc.

Apparently this is supposed to be an Easter egg so there wouldn't be any mention on the Steam Page. This is apparently a sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion. (I thought both games were the same at first.)
I think I eventually need a list of indie games with trans stuff inserted/made by trans devs specifically. I remember there being a woke list site, but last I checked on it, it mostly covered triple A titles.
This game is a sequel of a game called "Turnip Boy Commits Taux Fraud" which is just harping those shitty "x character is committing tax fraud" memes, as well as being a quintessential example of millennial humor (capitalism bad jokes, characters being heckin lesbians, killing god at the end because "omg its just like an rpg", shitty "deep" lore about the vegetables being mutants in a post apocalyptic world, if you saw a troon making a tweet about it on 2019, you will see it referenced)

GOD, these people will never have an ounce of creativity/originality in their lives. These are all purely made for lore-lickers to sink their teeth into and sensationalize and dramaticize the "2deep4me" lore.

This is a very, very rare time where I can say slop and not feel annoyed saying it. Stuff like this absolutely deserves the label indefinitely. Just more dung for the kids to obsess over, for the foreigners to put into YouTube kids, and for the unchecked adults drawing porn of them.

if it helps you feel any better, just rest assured that none of this shit will be remembered in the future. There'll probably be a sentence or two about FNAF and some quirky webcomic and that's it. None of this utter slop will ever amount to anything and all the people wasting their lives making this will be rewarded with absolute obscurity for the rest of time. The overwhelming dominance of it in the current moment is the price we pay for it to never be relevant again in the future.

Probably a pretentious comparison, but it makes me think of how Peri Bathos is completely fucking obtuse to anyone who isn't autistically obsessed with Pope's time period and very knowledgeable on his contemporaries. Every single person he was ridiculing has been forgotten to time due to how badly they sucked. The slop-makers of today will end up like those poets: remembered for naught but the better creators who ridiculed them.

To think that the FNAF creator is like the opposite of a troondev. He comes from a conservative background working on christian games and movies, is a family man and had a really good work ethic, he made tons of stuff before FNAF and after the game became popular he kept on churning out stuff, working on new games and new lore and content when 99% of troondevs in his situations would just spend 10 years announcing a sequel while they NEET of the tugboat of the first game.

Ironic that all his commitment and work is what created the festering wound that is the FNAF franchise and mascot horror today

This appeared in my recommendations. I'll give them credit, it does kind of look like something from ULTRAKILL. But like a mod or smthn. Either way, it's still slop.
The zoomer editing and self-awareness schtick doesn't help it either.
 
The obsession with people have with parrying is ridiculous. However I can give them credit for getting inspired by something like BLAME, a fantastic manga. Maybe they should take some pointers from them and have the characters never talk.
Parrying and dodging have become some of the worst trends to happen in action combat centric games and are just parts of a trend I'm noticing in gaming: turning the player into a reactive cuck.

Your bad positioning lead to you getting backed into a corner? Just press dodge and get out
Your bad positioning lead to you about to eat an enemy projectile? Just press parry to instantly kill everything
The boss is about to hit you with its ultimate special mega insta-kill blast move that they give 10s of telegraphing? Just press dodge right as it happens

I'm going to go on a tangent on Dark Souls and it's praised dodge mechanic as it's similar to the parry but worse (I also consider Dark Souls troonslop at this point). These mechanics basically encourages the player to have no agency. The player should be able to interrupt enemies, they should be able to push/ pull enemies into better positions, they should be able to combo and stun enemies way more than they're usually allowed to (You can do these to an extent in DS but it's only really for weak baby enemies).

It's so fucking boring man, it's just a game of baiting enemies into attacks, poking them and repeating it. I could at least find the dodging fun if it had a focus on positioning rather than the super convenient get-out-of-jail invincibility frames. Like if a boss is about to drop a big ass hammer attack, the attack should be only at the front of the boss and they should be stuck in that direction until the attack is complete; giving the player the ability to get out of the way without having to use i-frames, but instead it's some lock-on shit where they track you during the windup and you have no option but to press dodge at the right time. Dodging should be a positioning/movement tech instead of this psuedo-quicktime event dogshit.

Dark souls as a franchise has become nothing more than bait-and-switch games, there's no point in trying to use conventional logic in what enemies will do because it's just a game of just pressing dodge at the right time, so the only way to make it feel like something new is to pull some shit out of their ass and force you to memorize it. Enemy attacks continue becoming some loony tune ass shit just to throw you off 0.2s before you're meant to hit dodge. In Elden Ring 2 there's going to be a giant knight who's going to nothing but pretend he's about to hit you like 8 times before actually doing so.

Ultrakill and its consequences have been a disaster for the indie gamedev scene.

This right here is kind of my problem and a lot of people seem to agree with this. It comes back to the whole thing these types push when they go "well everything is political when you think about it" but don't seem to understand the nuance. Usually when peolpe point out examples they're varied and tackled different ideals and political opinions but folks use this as an excuse to say the same thing the same way. It's not that people hate politics but for god's sake i don't wanna hear the same opinion about capitalism 20 times told the same exact way it gets old.

It's always been something that usually looks cool for ultra cracked insane gameplay but gets tiring when you actually play it. I like it when it's something that doesn't require me to break my mouse, keyboard or controller ala Devil May Cry.
 
If Piñata Puppy World is about exploring the "complex emotions tied to nostalgic depression," why does it include liminal spaces and cartoon animals as selling points, especially when it's trying to deliver a "deeper, more nuanced" experience?
Short answer : dev is a retard who thinks he’s hot shit.

I’m sure all of us had that moment at some point where a pice of media left a permanent impact on us. For this guy FNAF was that. From the point of impact there are two ways. The healthy way is to recognise why the pice of media impacted you and continue to seek out the next pice of media that will impact you in a same way. The unhealthy way is to start venerating that pice of media as the be-all end-all of art, refusing to branch out. If someone who takes the unhealthy approach then attempts to create anything it will try to imitate that which they venerate. So as a result this guy will likely be unable to express himself in any way that doesn’t imitate FNAF.

This unfortunate condition often occurs in midwitts who think that they are very intelligent. Autism also makes people susceptible. Many of the games featured ITT are a product of such behaviour since while playing them you often get the idea that the developer only ever played the one game they venerate and nothing but, seemingly having zero other frame of reference.

You forgot the option of making the development of the game into a limbo that keeps draining money from supporters with nothing to show for it.
