Ubisoft Sellout - Bankruptcy Speedrun Any% Thread

do people really not get tired of the same ubishit everytime 100s of meaningless collectables, press e on towers to display more busy work. I feel like the last game to get away with that should've been far cry 3. development studios are way to risk averse nowadays
I think there was a place for them, they've just become way too oversaturated and samey. Assassin's Creed used to feel very different to Far Cry, even though they both had checklist-type gameplay elements, but now they all feel like cynical wastes of time designed to prod the player into spending more money to speed things up.

In an ideal world they would stop doing these franchise sequels and branch out into new IP/ideas, but since AAA budgets have become ridiculous and most recent attempts at doing new things have failed miserably they're just going to keep pumping out "safer" and woker sludge until they go out of business.

I hate this kind of boring, meaningless slop gameplay. There has to be a fanbase for it tho, as when I criticized Hogwarts Legacy for being pretty much a Ubisoft game wearing a skin of an infinitely more interesting IP I had several triggered people in that thread crying about how you can just "ignore the woke stuff", ironically enough ignoring the fact that it it's much harder to do so to boring, stale gameplay that has been done hundreds of times much better.
I would argue that Far Cry 5 was one of the better entries that still had some goodwill left with Ubisoft at that point. At least I usually hear people talk about 3 and 5 when they talk about the good ones. Still, I can't forgive Assassin's Creed or Far Cry for ruining the entire open world genre via oversaturation.

I don't get it.
>derek chauvin kneels on george floyd
>george floyd dies because he swallowed a shit ton of drugs
>summer of mostly peaceful riots and every business going into maximum virtue signallng mode
>ubisoft inserting Yasuke into their japanese assassins creed game because of BLM virtue signaling
>ubisoft suffering financially from several flops
>their last chance becomes a trainwreck because they had to insert samurai floyd-san into their japanese ninja game

LOL. Yea, I'm sure pumping out more live service slop will help

I think it's cute they think they will be able to survive long enough to see 2026
They will survive, but their mysteriously big-nosed corporate owners will begin to look a little more..... Mongoloidal as time goes on. Good riddence to the Hottentot-worshipping french, a clan long bereft of glory and honor, Judeo-Communized into kinslaying and nigger love. Into the dust bin of history.

USAID is dead, my dude. It's either to the garbage bin of history with them or selling their asses to Tencent like you said, no more handouts.

Ignoring how costly and time consuming development of live-service/open world games is or the fact that they demand maintenance and continuous creation of new content to the point most companies can only sustain one or two of them. They think that it is possible to release 10 such games in a decade and still manage to make them successful. God, are they the stupidest company in gaming or what?

They shut down XDefiant when they needed cash the most. Not only is this kind of game a gift that keeps on giving(People buy COD + microtransactions every single year, just imagine a fraction of that going into their wallet), not only is it's only rival doing the worst it has in years, it doesn't take a lot to keep it going: New maps, new operators, new weapons. Compare that to an open world looter shooter like Division or an action game like AssCreed, where you have to make new quests or events, if not something more complex. You basically have to regularly make DLC sized content updates for as long as you want to keep the game going.
Yes, they're absolutely retarded. This is approaching comedy levels seen in something like Outer Worlds, with how clueless these suits are.

I presume that having to do the things required to keep it updated was too much for their amateur hour DEI devs that need three weeks vacation to calm down from the panic a loud sneeze caused them. I guess them having lost the talented devs that could guide the new hires into competency and good products made constant development an impossibility. But that just a theory.

You all probably don't care but someone (either Matty or Chris, forget which) talked about playing AC Shadows in a supervised setting. He was so bored that he declined an extra hour of gametime despite finishing the demo content early. Said that Yasuke's gameplay was really boring and that he'd normally never turn down extra play time but was just soooo bored of it.

I think they're fucked.

I predicted that they were selling account user data for profit, but if they're openly selling accounts themselves then they're absolutely fucked. This is just going to tank their reputation even further and completely kill any faith in their platforms people might still have. They would not do this unless they were on the brink of bankruptcy, proper Interplay "We will sell you our most valuable IP for a couple million dollars so we can keep the lights on in the office for a few more weeks" kind of bankruptcy. Seeing AssCreed tank this company and the rats that will be sinking ship will be delicious.

probably combined with an "all or nothing" approach from middle management, where it's not enough the game makes good money and has intangible effects like word of mouth (like "why play an ubisoft live service game it if gets shut down in a year anyway?") instead of GREAT money they expect and want.

I like to periodically remind people how massive of a fuck-up this is, Ghost of Tsushima was so beloved in Japan that they made the creators honorary ambassadors of the island of Tsushima. AnalCreed is one of the top selling Western franchises in Japan. I don't know why they eat up that slop, maybe they think climbing all the towers and getting all the feathers is fun but whatever the case they love it. If you played as just Naoe, they could completely get away with it being just another mid barely passable slop and the Japs would overlook all the other weird shit like them fucking up sitting arrangements and the architecture being more characteristic of Chinese architecture of that time period rather than Japanese. I mean in Ghost of Tsushima you were pelted by artillery that didn't exist for another few centuries, samurai didn't use katana (or uchigatana if you wanna be even more autistic about it) but tachi, a lot of the armor is anachronistic and wouldn't be invented for another few centuries. I mean I spent most of my GoT playthrough cosplaying as Sanada Nobushige and he wouldn't be born for another several centuries.

My point is, it needn't be completely accurate if it at least feels authentic. Female shinobi didn't exist, at least not in the narrow sense of the word, actual shinobi would use women to eavesdrop and spy but they wouldn't be trained in anything else. However, female shinobi are part of folklore and have been for centuries, the Takeda were said to be assisted by this group of mythical female shinobi, that's why you have the Kunoichi character in Samurai Warriors, she's kind of a representation of that folklore. So again, I think AnalCreed Spookz would've actually been a commercial success and Japanese gamers would've eaten it up like they did all the other AssCreed slop before if the game involved you going around Japan as a ninja chick murdering evil dudes, they could've even put in all their other DEI bile and be fine, I've seen that they're probably gonna do the anti-white shit of ypipo being the actual antagonists of the story and they could've gotten away with it. But they just had to have put in a nigger as a playable character and sold him as this legendary (yes, they actually called him that) samurai and excellent combatant who conquered Japanese men in thousands of battles while armed with his sword and Japanese women in thousands of "battles" while "armed" with his BBC.

If this anti-Japanese embarrassment is what tanks Ubishit and ends up making them Tencent's and Xinnie the Poo's bitch it's gonna be funny on so many levels.

It's also funny because it shows that Japanese are more prone to taking actual anti-woke stances and defending their culture/games from poz than Westerners are. Just look at our grifters and the entire KCD2 shitshow, hard not to compare when the two games are coming out roughly around the same time.

I believe this. And I believe that some of the higher-ups are in on this. Not all of them perhaps and maybe not fully but there are higher-ups that turned a blind eye.

They are willing to forgive some inaccuracies the same way we are forgiving when they make mistakes. But the mistakes piled on. They made more inaccuracies than ever before and did not have a good gameplay to fall back either. They put in things that are blasphemous or disrespectful on marketing and the game. They tried to pass of an One Piece prop for something they made. They put an one-legged Tori gate. It became obvious that they just did not care.

Japan would NOT mind a kunoichi protagonist. It is an acceptable break from reality. Women disguising themselves as men and fighting is part of folklore in East Asia. No one would bat an eye, especially if she used ambushes, dirty fighting and sneak attacks to get the job done (you know, Classic AC gameplay). Hell, shinobi are one of the first units to use guns ffs. Look, it makes sense to put Yasuke in the game but not as a protagonist. At least not a samurai. They could have made him a tall, muscular shinobi that explained his disappearance from history by being an assassin working in the shadows. But that would have required effort.

because it's brainless progression to achieve a goal. it's not much different than grinding mobs in a jprg getting your stats up or farming that rare drop. it's an activity that doesn't require much attention, just like knitting or zapping through tv channels, relaxation essentially.

My point is, it needn't be completely accurate if it at least feels authentic.
the dragon/bmw argument in a nutshell

I believe this. And I believe that some of the higher-ups are in on this. Not all of them perhaps and maybe not fully but there are higher-ups that turned a blind eye.
not necessarily, more likely the hierarchy is a mess, no one pays attention/cares, leading to policies not getting followed. there will always be idiots not understanding the limits of their job, be it generating gold/items for guild mates or intervene in pve/pvp etc. (which I've seen happen personally, difference being those people got fired on the spot).

in ubisoft's case I wouldn't put it past them it's some lowlevel support DEI hire they're too afraid to reprimand to not appear racist, or a DEI hire in a senior/management position simply sucking at the job (support especially is a low requirement position, perfect place to park DEI hires to hit a quota).

"never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
