Dr. Kathy Rumer, DO / "The Butcher of Ardmore" / Rumer Gender Surgery / Rumer Cosmetic Surgery / Delaware Valley Aesthetics, PLLC - Sex-reassignment surgeon notorious for botched surgeries, constantly suing and being sued

You're not from this part of society. Rest easy at night knowing that Kathy Rumer is painfully aware that she is lower-upper class and deeply class-insecure at best. Being a doctor in the US isn't the guaranteed money printer of the 80's and 90's. Definitely not if your main selling point is "I take Medicare". For a plastic surgeon of any stripe that may as well be an admission of incompetence. Most plastics won't reimburse at all to Medicaid, SRS being one of a few exceptions, the other one coming to mind is BA for breast cancer patients post mastectomy. Private pay is much more common in plastics. Mostly the best surgeons score well enough to get into plastics fellowships are skilled enough to enjoy that private pay grade.

Her betters absolutely dunk on her at the country club and the hospital breakrooms. Also her lessers I imagine. Gender medicine is poorly regarded among doctors, regardless of what the publicity office in their hospital says. Accepting SRS cases on Medicaid tells me Rumer was not good enough to hack it as a private plastic surgeon. Doctors are smart people, yes, hardworking, mostly, but among wealthy people in America they're not that exceptional or powerful, at least as a class.
That all makes sense, but I'm also still left wondering what would've been motivating Hopkins to push the absurd medicare bill here in Maryland, if it wasn't the money.

I guess either Hopkins is able to do it at an industrial scale and wring some profit from it AND/OR just writing off any loss as political goodwill. With the latter, just something they can stuff into pamphlets for potential hires about all the charity surgeries they do on poor vulnerable troons.

Been awhile, so I decided to check if there's any news. Especially since Trump has been trying to prevent Medicaid from funding transgender surgeries, which was basically Rumer's bread & butter.

As a reminder: Dr. Kathy Rumer put both her home and her medical office up for sale last year. A campaign by angry troons might have had something to do with it.

It looks like Rumer's medical office was sold on Jan 31st, 2025. Her home is currently listed as "contingent" on Zillow, which means she has accepted an offer, but it hasn't been finalized yet.

Rumer bought it in 2012 for $512,000. Listed it for sale at $1,100,000. Sold it for $800,000 - that's a pretty steep discount! 🤔

Rumer bought it in 2015 for $1,999,999. Listed it for sale at $2,999,999 before lowering the price a couple times. The sale is in-process but hasn't been finalized yet. I bet there will be another steep discount.

Overall, it makes me think that Rumer is either really desperate to move elsewhere... or she's badly in need of the money for some other reason. 🤔 Very curious.

Her medical license is still active and was renewed last October. https://www.pals.pa.gov/#!/page/searchresult

I don't see any court cases she's involved in, but I'm also a bad sleuth. https://ujsportal.pacourts.us/casesearch

Her website is still up with no indication that she's going to retire or anything: https://rumergendersurgery.com/
Although the news page hasn't been updated since 2017, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The contact page still lists the address of the office Rumer sold last month:

I don't see any relevant news on Reddit about this situation, but please enjoy these recent-ish mentions of Dr. Rumer! :)

Also, I noticed this (kinda old) Change.org petition is still getting signatures and comments.

You did fine, that site is (so far as I know) a comprehensive listing of proceedings in Pennsylvania state courts.

I did a bit of additional digging in federal courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where she lives (lived?) and practices (practiced?) and found nothing new, same as you.

A search for 'Kathy Rumer' and 'Delaware Valley Aesthetics' (the PLLC for her practice) turns up nothing new, just the four malpractice suits filed against her in 2018:

And of course the libel lolsuit.

The Eastern Pennsylvania bankruptcy court's records only turn up old, unrelated results if you search for 'Rumer' on there:

This all comes with a few big caveats - first, malpractice suits could potentially be brought in her patients' home states rather than Pennsylvania. There are just too many courts to search if this is the case even if you assume the suit is real + being filed somewhere reasonably close to Southeastern Pennsylvania. Second, the only proof we have are Reddit posts saying the suit is happening + a claim from Jess Ting that he was interviewed by plaintiff's attorneys who planned to file a class-action against Rumer. Reddit is not to be taken seriously and Ting's post only proves there was talk of a civil suit. He would not be in the know if the attorneys reached a settlement or concluded the case was not worth taking. Third, if Rumer has already moved then she could have filed bankruptcy in another district and my searches would not have caught that.

This is how every fairytale / cautionary tale ends. The emperor realises he has no clothes but the "magical merchants" who sold him the invisible robes are long gone.

I like to imagine some troon rolls their wheelchair up to Rumer's old front door and knocks on it. The entire structure falls back and is revealed to be a 2d cardboard facade. Behind it is a note:

"So long and thanks for all the cash. Ps, dilate tranny"

And you would be right, the sale cleared about four months ago for only $2,375,000 (so a roughly 13% discount on top of the $254,000 she already took off the sale price or a nearly 21% discount from the original $2,999,000 asking price):

$375k profit from the house appreciating less realtor's fees, any maintenance she had to do as part of the sale, and (assuming she had a mortgage) interest payments mean she probably broke even or came close.

To cover all the bases there is no indication of disciplinary action taken against her (sorry for poor resolution):

And her Pennsylvania medical license is still active:

The 'inactive' written agreement appears to be superseded by one of the active ones, the only difference between the two is that the inactive one lists a second person in her practice named Jamie Mora. I assume the inactive status was caused by Mora leaving the practice since the active agreements give her the same privileges.

Her site still lists her practice at the 105 Ardmore Avenue address that she sold about half a year ago, suggesting it has not been updated in that entire time:

So yeah, not sure what is going on but it is all very confusing: No proof of bankruptcy, disciplinary action or civil suits but she sold her home + office, and despite keeping her medical license + site active she appears to have shut down her very high throughput practice with little warning.

It's called quitting while you're ahead.

Butcher that she is, she's figured out the winds are changing and she no longer has the invulnerable armor that used to apply even to the most incompetent quack so long as they were pushing troonery.
