I'm not hungry. I'm just jetlagged as fucked after spending 12 hours flying in economy class and am currently waiting for everyone else to wake up. Anyway, my final point/summary on the topic is that there is a very niche community built around very small games. The reason why I don't consider *most* of these games youtuber games is because they were made for this community and then picked up later by youtubers. So for example the devs of Iron Lung and Buckshot Roulette are both pretty established in that community and one of their games just happen to pop off on youtube. Poppy Playtime is pretty explicitly a youtuber game from the start because the dev started as a Minecraft slop farm and are checking all the boxes (mascot horror, pointlessly obscure lore they tried to sell, referencing youtubers by having jacksepticeye cameo and having Markiplier's birthday mentioned, early release to streamers and youtubers) in short, Mob knows their target audience. How would you feel if you hadn't eaten breakfast this morning?
It is annoying how overhyped games get by youtubers, but most of those games are genuinely really good or fun and it is good that that youtube can grow an audience for that game and make money for the dev.
