NASA is one of the few agencies that makes extremely good use of their tax dollars, and the advancements in both spinoff technologies that make their way into wide use and the gain of knowledge for all are more than worth it. In fact, triple the budget, they've been coasting by on the space-agency equivalent of scraps for a while. We can redirect some of the USAID grift their way.

Here is the projected impact path.

Apparently according to NASA and their metrics, the asteroid would release energy equivalent to 7.8 megatonnes of TNT (32.6 PJ) if it were to impact Earth at its predicted velocity at atmosphere entry of 17.32 km/s (10.76 mi/s), equivalent to about 367 of the "Fat Man" bomb dropped on Nagasaki, 2 and a half of Grapple Y, 51% of Castle Bravo, or 15.4% of Tsar Bomba.
HIT VENEZUELA HIT VENEZUELA HIT VENEZUELA HIT VENEZUELA

PLEASE FOR FUCK'S SAKE HIT VENEZUELA

you know how many under 1% mount drops ive seen drop in various MMOS?

if I saw a mount with a 3% drop rate Id think "shit, they are making it almost to easy"
okay but with drop rates you get multiple attempts, and it’s a 3% chance each individual time. You could kill 100 of whatever enemy drops the special loot and still not get anything.

The asteroid is only gonna get one pass, I’m not terribly concerned.

I see you're still operating on the NASA from the 1990's. You should actually look into modern NASA.

I mean in this case the asteroid is only 130-300 feet, which isn't anywhere near an ALE but we should probably laucnch a few nukes at still.

Dawg, my doggy, my good man, you blow up a big fuck off rocket within our rockets range of our earth into a rock you have created the worlds largest shrapnel grenade with the shrapnel moving at like 18,000 meters a second.

Say goodbye to all your satellites and say hello to your new near atmosphere asteroid belt making every space launch an near impossible shooting gallery we have to run through

Why not, and stick with me on this, we simply bonk it away like the above image shows

NASAs shuttle program was a boondoggle from start to finish. Also the retards LOST the plans for their earlier rockets, necessitating the stuff being done by SpaceX and Boeing to be reinventing stuff from the 60s.

my brother kiwi, please don't sperg about cosmic destruction for 15 pages like you did about...everything else. If an asteroid hits earth, it will hit earth. C'est la vie, live a good life while you can, for tomorrow we die

Why don't we build a giant baseball bat.

Boss, I guess I should clarify, I know what your talking about when you do have to grind, Im talking about the weekly lockouts that arent "grindable" so to speak you need to rely on luck

Ive seen more than I care to count drop on the very first run or on a intentional run for it.

0.5% or lower is "fuck it we ball territory"

anything higher we need a contingency plan atleast in place, AN OPTION, if not for us for the future generations who might need it

you know the best time to plant a tree? 30 years ago, you know the second best time? right now.

Society grows great when men plant trees they might never sit under the shade of.

so. i know everyone's really interested in this asteroid shit, but you guys know this asteroid is years away from earth, right? this thing won't even hit in trump's term. it wouldn't even potentially impact until the END of 2032.

please stop sperging about an asteroid nearly 8 years away from earth like it's about to impact tomorrow.

Ill keep it a buck fifty boys, that scares the shit out of me

Dont think those kinda numbers are worth shrugging at when the margin of error is our very planet

I completely get where you're coming from, but the rock being most likely to hit India should make it like a really funny rare random encounter from a game.

As I said, no point in worrying about things you can’t control. It’s like fearing the reaper. Plus it’s like a 3% chance. And plus, a mass extinction event like the dinosaurs is not likely to happen again. Humanity is very spread out. And if my reading comprehension is good, it’s only supposed to be 15.4% as powerful as the tsar bomba, and that didn’t wipe out humanity, or anyone.

It’s more fear mongering like covid. There were people that thought it would kill all of humanity and it basically was just a flu. It also is a good way to give the government more power with them saying “OH MY GOD GUYS! WE NEED MONEY TO FUND THWARTING THE ASTEROID THREAT! TAXES GO UP!”

Massive fucking scam.
