But then if things start to get back to "normal" for them (under a new administration, of course), they'll forget all about that and concentrate on who and what they all have a common hatred for being the real problem.

One thing that has been reinforced in my mind amid all of this insanity is that when things are working (not perfectly, but working), people tend to take it for granted. But when the likes of Trump, Musk, and their billionaire cronies come in to throw things into chaos, you really start to appreciate those checks and balances.
