Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

Russia is basically a paper tiger at this point
Nah it's been clear that Russia is more like a wombat with a shotgun.

So it's basically a Verdun style "bleed them white" scenario. That was something i always considered because the attempts to drag on this war didn't really make much sense to me other than for that end goal. However, this could backfire spectacularly if Russia ends up getting what they want with the added "bonus" of having a lot of battle data for this era of warfare along with an active military with prolonged combat experience.
It already has backfired. That's why there's been a fairly long period of news silence about the war outside of perfunctory updates until Trump's negotiations and opinions were made public, propagandists generally don't report bad shit that happens in a war. However, it is very easy to write a narrative redirecting blame to opposition in an attempt to distance yourself from the very big and embarrassing money sink that you shilled for after your opposition has declared their intent to mop up the mess your party has made.

The demands to prolong the war are largely there to serve as a sunk-cost appeal to delay the embarrassment associated with Ukraine and possibly dull some of the impact of it, because outside of Ukraine itself the only things people have really invested are money and pride.

Cope thread going full TDS while the Trump supporters try to somehow reconcile the fragments back together certainly is funny to watch.

Best. Vote. Ever.
It truly is the gift that keeps on giving. Pro-Ukie Trump supporter and those who hate Trump are at each other's throats now. This is what you get when you align yourself with the mentally ill! Then again, it was utterly absurd to think Trump would be willing to go full warmonger over Ukraine when his only interests were in the US and (((them))), so I don't really know what some of these people expected.

What's gonna happen with all the shit the US gave Ukraine? Jackal/Lord of War 2.0?
Look at what happened with all the Yugoslavian/Republic of Sprska stockpiles in the 90's. To this day there are still muzzies running around France with Zastava's and muzzies running around Sweden with M75 hand grenades.

It's not that Russia is paper tiger, it's that modern warfare is basically trench warfare with drones at this point...
I understand that. It's just i think people expected Ukraine to get steamrolled within a year. I guess history really does repeat itself though, the superpowers of the time had the same issue in the 1910's. I guess every offensive isn't a Blitzkreig through France and Poland.

They thought Trump was going to go in and literally tell Russia to get out or the bombing would start. They whine about "Trump not getting a deal" or pressing them for everything they've got, like....maybe he doesn't hold disdain for Russians? Maybe he actually...respects them? Holy shit what an idea!

They actually think Ukraine and Russia are on equal footing for negotiations. Actually, they think Ukraine is on better footing. They think Ukraine can do this with only Euro support. I love that thread now, it's very fun to read.

The size of Ukraine, and the stockpile of arsenal inherited from Soviet days and the size of Ukrainian army. The Russian pulling their punches to minimize Ukrainian civilian casualties especially the first months and the size of the Russian force sent, which to mention was understaffed at that. Kind a made this into protracted war. And that was really obvious from the get go really neverminded the first few months.

What's the purpose of this propaganda? Why would I ever feel sorry for someone who volunteered to go fight in a war for a country they don't even live in? Best case scenario, you're a serial killer who wanted a nice legal outlet. Worst case, you're a fool.

Why is this guy who's name doesn't even sound remotely Russian or Ukrainian call Mariupol is "home"?

Their seething and butthurt is so delectable. But I'll be a good boy for Dear Feeder Null, and make Fire Nation girlie proud by not trolling the other thread.

It is like being a vampire and there is a fresh blood drive next door. But we should be gracious in victory, and not cause mods trouble.

Fitting because vampires need to be invited in and I'm banned from that thread

I understand Russia is basically a paper tiger
well, a paper tiger that has demilitarized basically the whole of NATO.

The ukro had 10 years to heavily fortified the border with the donbas. every town, industrial site, sovietic apartment bloc has been transformed in armored outposts which had to be conquered in bloody close combat one room at a time.
add to that the west has poured all it had in ukraine. look at any frontline footage and you will only see western weapons and supplies.

for the war against russia the west had in mind for some time, lots and lots of cannon fodder had to be provided to the border with russia. very impractical and expensive, not to mention that the russians might have noticed that and reacted with a storm of nukes. and thousands of bodybags coming back from the front would have toppled most western governments.
so the ukrainians were chosen as prime cannon fodder. they were already in the right place, and they were expendable. and dumb enough to believe to the western promises and propaganda.

russians were never good at producing consumer goods, but always excelled at war production.
when the need arised for a very fast airplane, the americans made the SR71. wonderful piece of equipment, btw built mostly with sovietic titanium. they built 32
the soviets built the mig 25. they built 1186.

so no, they are definitely not a paper tiger. they just got termporarily lazy and complacent.
and one thing must not be forgotten. they have lots of natural resources and plenty cheap energy.
the west with its infinite financialization of everything, has paper.

and btw, i dont know how you folks feel about it, but i think it would be great a movie was made about the epic battle of Mariupol. an army of convits commanded by a chef. cant get more absurd than that.
