So it's not really a challenge. I know my college's graduate program helps students prepare for the exam (it's not like grad students have to care about classes), but other than that this seems nebulous as to what it actually offers in terms of skills taught. One of my professors calls it the "APA seal of approval" which seems more accurate than some objective measure of theory and practice knowledge

Good riddance, it's gone. Let's not mince words, the truth about congestion pricing is that the powers that be are literally charging you for existing because it inconveniences them. In their eyes your existence as a peon is a burden to them. You are not enjoying a specific luxury, they are not providing you a service. They are literally punishing you for physically taking up space.

Yeah. The Interstate Commerce Clause (which governs rules between states) does have a proviso built in at some point about roads not being taxed unfairly, and New York's proximity to New Jersey means that they're even more prone to Constitutional issues. The seething makes it obvious that any "well, it might help with congestion" is really just a lie, if it got re-invested into New York's street maintenance there would still be shrieking.

I think it would cause more seething if some Obama appointee from New Jersey cites it as unconstitutional.

Apathy may be Trump's biggest gain in this case. I really don't think there's enough political support to go to bat for congestion pricing. The sad thing is that even if the congestion pricing goes to the streets maintenance fund, the MTA will still win because there's no way that they aren't redirecting funds from that.

While he's not outright denying the effects of immigration, any country's immigration system has gotten completely out of control when the housing stock isn't there and it is actively causing everyone's lifestyle on the host country to be worse off.

When you are forced to literally destroy your own neighborhoods en masse to house everybody, it's time to start deportations or executions, probably both.

The project has faced numerous setbacks over the years, especially when it comes to the construction timeline and funding.

Earlier this month, President Donald Trump told reporters he plans on investigating the project himself. The president went on to call it one of the worst-managed projects he's ever seen.

High speed rail authorities responded to Trump's remarks on X, highlighting the progress made and the 14,000 jobs the project's already created.

Much the construction that's already been done is in the Central Valley.

According to the Los Angeles Times, roughly $13 billion has been spent on the project. The budget is roughly $100 billion more than the High-Speed Rail Authority's original $33 billion estimate.

The project is expected to be completed by the 2028 Olympic games, which are set to be held in L.A.
 
I agree that direct fees to use a street in a city you live in is completely immoral but what would Trump's alternative to reducing traffic in NYC be, since driving there is already nearly impossible and the alternatives look like an indian slum? Afaik the europoors do congestion pricing and have found at least some success with it in Norway so it's not entirely meritless despite the fact that it's basically a reinstitution of literally having to pay to enter a city like the medieval ages (which most of EU is stuck in).

Remove all the bike lanes, bus lanes, double sidewalks, and dining sheds and congestion will be greatly reduced. NYC has a declining population; their congestion would naturally be getting better if it wasn’t for road diets.

Congestion pricing is a failure. It means that you’ve given up on building infrastructure (or worse, destroyed infrastructure) and are content with restricting what used to be a normal part of life to only the rich.

Tension is mounting in Burnaby over the future of a trail along Burnaby Lake, with horse riders pushing to preserve it for equestrian use, but city officials and cyclists arguing it should be paved to expand the region's biking network.

Cyclists and city argue paving necessary to create safe commuting network​

Horse riders in Burnaby say they're being pushed to the side by the city's plan to pave a gravel trail for cyclists that riders and horses have been using daily for more than fifty years.
City council approved the move to convert the trails along the south side of Burnaby Lake Regional Park last month, but riders with the Burnaby Horsemen's Association — which has its stables at the eastern edge of Burnaby Lake — continue to speak out against it.
One of those riders is Vicky Gilker, whose horse Tommy is one of 59 horses cared for at the Burnaby Lake stables.
"I was pretty upset about it," she said.
Horses can't safely walk on pavement without special boots, and even then they must go slowly or else they may slip and seriously injure themselves, the horsemens' association says.
Horse riders say Burnaby Lake is the only place in the city they're allowed to go on trail rides.

"It's supposed to be a park here. It's not supposed to be a commuting path. It's supposed to be for people's pleasure and enjoyment," Gilker said.

Safer bike route needed​

But cyclists and the city say paving the Freeway Trail and the connecting Avalon Trail is necessary.
The paths, they say, are set to become an important part of the city and the region's cycling and active transportation network. Eventually, a pedestrian and cyclist overpass will be added, enabling park users to safely cross Highway 1 and access the south side of the city and beyond.

Tale of a trail: Cyclists want the trail at Burnaby Lake to be paved, but horse riders are unhappy
The City of Burnaby is expanding its cycling network and bringing more cyclists off the roads and onto dedicated trails. A Burnaby Lake trail has now become a multi-use cycle path, and the city is trying to pave it to make it safer and more accessible for riders. As Pink Wong reports, horse riders in the park say they're being squeezed out.

The equestrians have been using the trail for more than 50 years, and until two months ago, cyclists weren't permitted on the path. However, that changed when the city made it into a multi-use trail.
Plans to convert the gravel into pavement, which is safer for cyclists, are underway. Part of the trail was paved several years ago, another section has been approved for the same, and yet another is undergoing a feasibility study by Burnaby city staff.
Jasper Tam commutes between the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and Loughheed Town Centre once or twice a week, and says a new cycling route is badly needed.
"Currently, there's no real safe alternatives to getting to the Lougheed area sort of from near the city hall [and BCIT)," he said.
The current route he uses — and which Google Maps recommends — is along Lougheed Highway, a busy vehicle thoroughfare with a 70 kilometre per hour speed limit. When Tam, who volunteers with HUB Cycling to help improve Burnaby biking infrastructure, cycles there, he rides on the shoulder of the road.
In theory, he says, the alternative is the Central Valley Greenway along Winston Street. But, Tam says, it's also not safe because there's no physical barrier separating the narrow bike lane from the rest of the road and it is regularly closed for sewer repairs.

Tam says cyclists who commute often use road bikes or hybrid bikes, which usually have tires designed for use on pavement. Cycling on gravel risks puncturing the tires on such bikes and there's a higher risk of slipping and crashing, Tam says.
Burnaby Coun. Pietro Calendino says the paving is vital to the city's commitment to provide a throughway to fit with Metro Vancouver's Regional Greenways Plan.
"Cyclists would like to have a direct route between Vancouver and New Westminster," he said.

Horses 'landlocked' in city​

But the equestrians say they and their animals have nowhere else to go. If the city follows through and paves both trails, riders calculate it will reduce their trail capacity by 54 per cent.
"Basically, if they pave the trails … we can no longer go on those trails and basically we're kind of landlocked here with a very limited little network of trails," said Helene Littmann, who moved to Burnaby around 10 years ago so she could board her horse Splatt at the stables.
Metro Vancouver says it's taking feedback on trail use plans as it develops a new park management plan with Burnaby.
The horsemens' association is still hoping to find a way to keep trails open for horses.

Shit like this is bullshit because mountain bikes can handle trails easily. Hell, even fine crushed rock trails are easy to bike on and work better for multi-use trails. You don't hate bike short faggots enough.

EDA: It's so strange how these types also cannot account for their own safety. Things need to be bubble wrapped for them and impossible for scawy vehicles or bumps to possibly be an issue. It's not that you can't just use your eyes to see if there is anything blocking your way or doing something inappropriate like trying to drive on trails that aren't for car use. Nuh uh. Impossible! Everyone else from ATVs, off road bikes (w/ or w/out motors, horses, and hikers do this but for bike short fags it's unreasonable.
