Another thing about public transit that irritates me is that urbanistfags want to have it both ways; they want a giant train line that spans the entire continent and they want all cities to have their own subsystems for bicycles and buses but they don't want to help build a high-trust society where people can use those things without fear of personal harm or injury. They want their bus lines but they want the homeless people to be free to openly shoot up, jack off, and threaten people with knives due to libshit toxic positivity. They want their trains that go everywhere but they don't want to make any effort to curbing crime because of aforementioned libshit toxic positivity.

I remember when I was young and living in Bumfuck Nowhere, USA I dreamed of having a big ol' train line that would allow me to go to all of the populated places with the fun stuff and people without having to ask my parents to drive me there. As I grew up I realized it was a terrible idea because it'd be a great excuse for all of the criminals from the city (the city in my state was one of the worst for gang crime at the time) to have free access to the entire state to violently shit up as they pleased. It was an unavoidable obstacle because cities by and large refuse to do anything about crime, and that's not even factoring the cost or metrics of such a project.

Urbanists are their own worst enemy because they insist on acting like freaky bugmen and they don't even realize it. They don't compromise and they don't ground themselves in reality. The me me me millennial stereotype is real.

I remember that one time someone asked some sort of communist subreddit what they would do if a drug addict broke into their home to rob them and one of the responses was that the robber can go to a soup hotel care facility and get free food and mental help and that there is no need to rob because of the magical abundance.

You are getting at a very core problem to a lot of communist thinking and it's offshoots. It only looks at things from it's view on economics. In their fairy land, no one ever chooses to be evil. It's all bad circumstances and "lack of material possessions." And that's why it will never be as popular as fascist or libertarian movements. Their models has no explanation for some rural hick with gets paid 50¢ a day being perfectly happy, or someone like nick rekeita imploding his life despite having all the "material wealth" he could need.

JFC they are cultish af, firstly if you buy used or plan to keep the car for as long as possible(so you know you don't waste all the energy that went into making) depreciation doesn't matter, speaks volumes how about their environmental concerns are a bullshit cover.

Secondly the whole 'secret carbrain' is definitely a fucking insane idea, most people do not give a fuck and use their cars to get from a-b, if you gave them an easy, clean, safe option they'd take it(why I'm pro good PT, gets the phone pilots off the road so you don't have to dodge their shitty distracted driving)

So it's not really a challenge. I know my college's graduate program helps students prepare for the exam (it's not like grad students have to care about classes), but other than that this seems nebulous as to what it actually offers in terms of skills taught. One of my professors calls it the "APA seal of approval" which seems more accurate than some objective measure of theory and practice knowledge
