So a government shutdown is looming, and for the first time ever it will be the democrats bearing the brunt of the blame. Parties that get blamed for shutdowns almost always suffer in the next election and the DNC has been sucessful in putting the blame on the GOP in the past but now, with a GOP with a clear mandate, blocking a budget and forcing a shutdown battle will be blamed on the democrats.

the obvious thing would be to just not have a shutdown, vote for the continuance and let the voter forget about it. BUT the far left has crawled so far up the DNC's ass that there is a lot of internal pressure to do ANYTHING to stop Trumps agenda and the only chance they have rn is a government shutdown.

Did you know government shutdowns are optional? as in, not required at all even with out a continuance or budget? until 1980 under jimmy carter when the govt. had no budget it did not shutdown. it just continued operating until the budget was passed. it wasn't this huge fight all the time. Carter's AG issued a memo requiring it. congress wanted to defund the FTC and did not renew it's budget so they could investigate the department for ways to cut. Carter turned it into a huge public fight when he required the FTC to shutdown, laid everyone off and sent the US marshals to stop workers from working for free and further threatened to shutdown the whole government unless he got his way.

So the scenario is thus:

Government shutdown will hurt the democrats popularity but internal party politics may force them to shut it down anyway. But trump can have AG Bondi rescind the shutdown memo from 1980 to keep the government operating so the general public is not effected and thus the democrats can not play politics by shutting down tourist attractions in DC and natl. parks.

and trump gets to say:

"The Dirty Democrats shutdown YOUR government, I opened it back up!"

California? Yes, it's broken ground. On the segment from the ass-end of nowhere to the other side of the ass-end of nowhere. I found it funny that they think they'll have anything by the 2028 Olympics. Last I heard the 150ish miles from Bakersfield to Merced won't even be operational until 2032 or later.

See the orange bit, latest estimates put even that after 2028. The bond measure was passed in 2008.

Brightline West, the red line to Las Vegas broke ground in 2024 is expecting to be complete by 2028 and has significantly more terrain challenges than the almost totally flat CA HSR initial segment.

So I wouldn't normally post this, but I had two very interesting conversations and I want to share some of my thoughts.

Last week, I was talking to a die-hard liberal and he told me about Dark Enlightenment, Peter Thiel, Curtis Yarvin, JD Vance, etc. Today I had another interesting conversation with a guy who recommended this video. It's an annoying woman but it basically explains what Dark Enlightenment is.

TL;DW A techbro version of globohomo, where you will eat the bugs and live in the pod, but you will trade in crypto. Kill the United States, start some techno-feudalism, and ensure that your capital is still worth something after the US collapses for being so fucking gay.

The video is interesting because she explains a lot of what has happened with DOGE this past month.

We've all heard people like @Save the Loli sperg about the connection between Vance and Thiel, and I don't think it's that off, but I do believe that Vance isn't just Thiel's puppet. This is all obviously a gay think tank that's currently aligning with right-wing politics because they've managed to capture the support of MAGA.

Why am I posting this? Well, I don't want to act paranoid or even believe everything they propose is wrong. But I do think that a lot of this is gay and retarded.

I also largely support everything this administration has done thus far.

However, I do think that we need to be careful and we shouldn't get caught up in winning. Again, this thread will rarely admit it, but we sometimes fall into a circlejerk and support whatever Trump does. If Trump starts to bend the ear too much to this group, or any other gay group that just has a reskinned globohomo agenda, we should be wary.

So just think for yourselves. Read this schizo rant if you want to and learn something from it if you're willing, and remain critical. If Trump or Vance or whoever fails us, don't give up. Fight for your country and for a better future.

Again, some of these people have good ideas, and Elon has been a useful autist so far, but that doesn't mean that every single one of their actions will be perfect or even commendable.
