I've heard suggestions that they twisted the arm of their bankers to buy Ukrainian bonds on the understanding that there would be huge profits coming from plundering Russia, and now they're looking at those banks going bust or having to be bailed out. Here's what the Ukrainians are saying

I really dont see how these countries can rebuild militaries without conscription. the US barely manages that starting from 0.33 bln people.
problem is, they even already sold or abandoned all the old infrastructure so they wouldnt even have roofs under which to put the conscripts.

democracies' governments hate the military, and they are afraid of it. thats why in europe after ww2 militaries were transformed in state bureaucracies, only dressed in green or gray, and massive parallel police organizations under the control of the central state were built.

US is an exception because since WW2 it has been engaged in a war or another so maybe they kept the warrior spirit in the military alive, until obama arrived.

europeans will whine and complain but they will comply, but they will be useless in a fight. there will be massive desertion the first moment the troops cant access snapchat.
on the other side, we have a large army, battle hardened, equipped with tactics and hardware the europeans cant even start to comprehend.
its so bad it isnt even funny.
if european leaders had one atom of honesty and integrity, they would realize they better keep a low profile and try to cut the losses.

Saw that when it launched. Grok thinks like a redditor, unsurprisingly. I trust those numbers as much as pravda. Grok is thoroughly convinced that millions have died/been wounded. It's hard to get it to shift away from casualty numbers that would have ended the war from attrition a year ago.
