There's a passion project on steam called NAEV (Not Another Escape Velocity clone).

For the uninitiated: this was originally a mac game released as Escape Velocity. The game used the most basic form of programming you could use that anyone willing to spend five minutes futzing around with could modify.

The entire code base is just Mac binary stuff with spins, spobs, strings, and crons. Outfits for ships are handled by the outfit/ship binary archives as are the ships themselves.

The game progressed through several iterations finalizing in a dual Mac/windows release "EV Nova". Windows users unfortunately had to use an antiquated version of sitx(Vs8) to modify the game as freely as Mac users but to accommodate this the (very small) development team released a file browser for the binaries. A simple resource fork split later and bam: Mac binaries usable on windows.

Due to the file browser and the dev team willfully helping Windows users modify the game as easy as they did it exploded in popularity and the entire series arguably influenced EVE as several of the most popular ev Nova modders either worked on or play tested eve.

The biggest take away from this is that Thor doesn't want anyone to play his game. It's literally a grift, his obscure array bullshit is kind of telling. I really feel like his comments about making his game easy to mod are just ragebait he gets off on. "Oh you can't figure out my specific flavor of autism in my code you're sooooo stupid, look at how stupid this guy is guize"

The only thing he tries to debunk is the timing of when he played animal well
He says in the video "these guides came out when we'd already stopped playing the game", but the techraptor wingdings guide came out on may 19, when he was finishing the game. He doesn't even try to explain it, he just confidently lies

Yes, originally from 1996, published by Ambrosia Software, with two sequels, Override and Nova.

There's also Cosmic Frontier: Override, kickstarted in 2020, by the original scenario writer. It's been somewhat delayed because of making a new engine for it, focusing on modability.

That's awesome I'll definitely check it out. The writing in Eva Nov is so good that it made me actually make a mod for it that gives the Irish a new world after The institute destroys their original terraformed planet. Like the game is so easy to understand for modding that anyone could do what I did I just set the tech level properly set its affiliation gave it my own description text file that I wrote + voila, inhabited system that could totally be Canon for the series.

And again this isn't what Thor wants: Thor wants to gatekeep and feel like the smartest person in the room. he doesn't want some 14-year-old like I was figuring out how to add content to his game that made his game better. PXL_20250221_043252806.jpg

maldy conviniently left out skg, and all of the constant lying and inflating his stories into being something absolutely untrue

even when trying to help his own case he cant avoid lying aobut it. the reviews on steam are not this fifty fifty split he sells on the video of trolling and not trolling

this is what a newcomer sees if they filter by negatives

View attachment 7004015

there are no mentions of maldavius figtree or the wow drama. there is one mention, the first, of him being a streamer, without any wow drama

except for the one guy with 0.4 hours of gameplay and the other with half an hour, they all have more than enough time to finish heartbound

none were refunded
I can see where the confusion comes from, but coming from someone who has spent decades social engineering the populace it's quite clear that guy with 13 hours playtime who is critiquing and commenting on multiple specific parts of the games is just an uneducated troll. He doesn't get "it".

And the guy comparing it to Undertale is laughable. Mald has 13 years of industry experience in one of the leading developers for AAA titles on the planet. There's simply no comparison.

He claims he discussed Maldavius Figtree (the character) on stream multiple times. However, if so, how come saying those two words in his chat would get you automatically banned? This was a thing way before the SKG drama too, IIRC.

It's unfortunate he has tens of thousands of hours of him whining so you can never be 100% sure and if you say "he's never mentioned it" then if he does ever find that one 2 second slip up where it was written on a piece of paper it'll be his gotcha that invalidates anything you say for the rest of your life, but yea there's 0 chance he ever has. Why would he have it banned in chat like you say and scrubbed from youtube comments for years if that's the case? It also gets you autoblocked on youtube and DMCa'd within days if you mention it in a video regardless of the size of your channel. Very Maldlike behavior tbh

Any thoughts on AI transcriptions? It's not perfect, but skimming text is way better than listening to a 25 minute video.
Transcriptions are the only (sane) way "enjoy" Mald's "content". Currently he has around 3.2k hours worth of VODs on his YT, and with him eating the mic 12 hours a day, it's impossible to keep up and not go insane (actually insane behavior).

time to touch grass

EDIT: ACK-shually, I don't even know how Mald has the time for "touching grass" when he's working on ShartBound (LOL), Minecraft "MMO" (LMAO), *and* his next project after ShartBound (TBA):

That was back in January of 2024. I wonder if ShartBound has been completed and Mald is now diligently working on his new awesome game. :story:

struck a nerve he cares deeply about being seen as manly (bass boosted voice, using his middle name) but he does nothing to stay strong

dude is very pasty i dont believe he goes outside, he walks occasionally? sure, but he has gamer tan, hes not out walking in the sun for any more then 30 minutes
dude has noodle arms as if he was drawn in adventure time
