Business Big Tech Layoffs Megathread - Techbros... we got too cocky...

Since my previous thread kinda-sorta turned into a soft megathread, and the tech layoffs will continue until morale improves, I think it's better to group them all together.

For those who want a QRD:

Just this week we've had these going on:

But it's not just Big Tech, the vidya industry is also cleaning house bigly:

All in all, rough seas ahead for the techbros.

My most recent job was me calling a manager I worked with before who had moved to a new company and saying "Hey, you guys hiring?" His response: "Sure, how much do you want?" and then a brief chat with his boss, not so much an interview but them trying to sell me on the company.

I interviewed at Google a few times over the years. They were usually one recruiter chat, 2 tech interviews and one day on-site. None of the times did they offer me the job. Since the tech people liked me my guess was it was that I wanted reasonable additional pay for their location compared to where I was living at the time.

A max of three interviews could be justified. Maybe a personality one, a technical one, and perhaps one with the team, a manager youd be working with, etc.
We do a skill test and interview same day. Only very senior positions would consider the need for a second interview, and that’s only if there are two identical candidates.

Offers out ASAP as you lose good people making them wait.

When you interview someone you can tell in the first few minutes if the seem like a fit, the rest is retarded padding done for the sake of HR.

Say no to protracted interview processes.

That is just because Chinese companies are very racist and will only hire non-Chinese people if there is no alternative. The second they feel that a Chinese person can do a non-Chinese person's job, they get rid of the non-Chinese person and replace them with a Chinese person.

They acquired all those companies for their IP, not for their staff.

Chinese games are almost all gacha slop and Marvel Rivals only sells in the West because of the licensed name. All good game devs are American, European, or Japanese.

It should be made illegal for an online game to shut down without; A) making all available content free, and B) an offline mode patched in, even if you're just playing with bots.
Failure to do this should result in being banned from trading within the entertainment industry for five years.

Pretty accurate I would say. In my experience w/ FAANG interviews I don't think I ever got callbacks when applying direct, and the only time I got sped ran to the final round onsites was when LinkedIn or email recruiters reached out to me first. They always used the same variations of leetcode hard but with some twist so I just googled the commonly asked ones and memorized the answers. I didn't really do the feign disinterest part though because imo they'll just be like "lol ok there's 1000 other people that'll gladly take it"

oofff but again say the meme ip dragon gold.

Most of Monoliths leadership and senior talent left years ago. The studio didn't create shit, its just a name. The people made that shit, and the good ones GTFO a while back.

I'll keep saying it even though they never listen, the talented people in any organization will find a new job. Talent is measured on a curve of all your industry peers, and just because you think you're great, doesn't mean you actually are.
