To be fair, I think they're struggling with the glued on seal... But I've never seen anyone poke a hole in that either. Those are mildly annoying with buttery fingers. I don't want to sperg too much but ... I did Engineering Doctorate in a very male dominated subject. Men (some, not all) treat you like you are mostly incompetent anyway (i don't think its malice though, they just really want to HELP you and can't believe you actually know male stuff such as programming or math) which makes it really hard not constantly doubt your own intelligence and competency.

To be fair, women rarely express any actual interest or knowledge in their field. The one time I met an "actual" programmer-since-14 woman who got her start coding her own tumblr site, she didn't have a desktop nor any interest in gaming. She also had fuck-all money cause she didn't pursue any career advancements. Likewise a semi-prodigy friend witnessed a woman being paid the same as him occupying 3 other dudes several times an hour for aid. I think most men are very open to successful women or at least seeing them succeed, but as you put it, men are used to women being leagues behind in anything objective and scientifical, so they'd sooner help them up to speed than be that "fix it yourself, lady" dudebrah.

That said, go look at the average 30-50 year old woman in any setting. Chances are they aren't above average at their job or at least don't express complete interest in it. Sure women don't often work as welders or technicians, but i mean, at least you'd see a few of them now and then. I remember watching this 'Skills' wannabe-olympics for trades, waiters, receptionists, roofers etc. Real interesting shit, and I swear 90% of the women were in hospitality or baking. So yeah, what're the chances the only woman in an engineering class is gonna be the fabled main character who humbles them all?
